Album Notes
The Very Next Day is a record that will take your entire family on a rollicking ride through fields of pop. Without warning, find yourself marching behind a New Orleans brass band. Friendship and love are celebrated in waltz-time. Parents are encouraged to welcome the parenting blues. The joy of being alive is discovered in beautiful roots music with party hats and a horn section.

Quick on the heels of his 2013 JUNO-nominated children's album, "What's the Big Idea?!?, Gary Rasberry explores brand new musical territory with "The Very Next Day." Gary is joined by The Woodshed Orchestra, a nine-piece band of joy led by legendary drummer Dave Clark (The Rheostatics, Gord Downie). Featuring drums, bass, piano, guitar, trumpet, trombone, saxophone and clarinet, The Woodshed Orchestra celebrates friendship and love through music. Each song is a funky, uplifting, joyful ride.

The title track, 'The Very Next Day,' a "sort of sequel" to 'The Cat Came Back' was co-written with Canadian music icon, Fred Penner. 'At the Drive Thru' is a raucous number that finds a family getting more than they bargained for on their Saturday afternoon outing. 'Wind-Up Parent' asks the question, "What if you wind up a parent?" The beleaguered parent—ecstatic, proud, exhausted, delirious—finds herself drinking red wine out of sippy cups, counting on the next coffee, shivering with the kids in the community pool, changing diapers and contemplating university tuition fees all is the span of one song.

Discover an album that honours children for the highly intelligent creatures they are, treats their parents with the love and respect they deserve, and celebrates the family unit as the fabulous, crazy, beautiful, institution it truly is.
