A Lover's Odyssey

by Gavin Atkins

Donovan and Cohen meet James Taylor; poetic lyrics and a warm, emotive vocal style entwined with finger-picked acoustic guitar. Fully backed, this contemporary folk/rock album tells an emotive story of Odysseus's 27-year journey in search of true love.

Album Notes
A Lover's Odyssey portrays 27 years of a journey from first love, through lost virginity and on in search of true love. Looking back on my journey, I realised that my story bears an uncanny similarity to Homer's "The Odyssey", hence the title of the Album.

For those who do not wish to own the book version (see note below), this album contains all twelve tracks, ten of which were semi-finalist entries in the UK Songwriting Contest in 2008.

Note: "A Lover's Odyssey" was originally available as a book with music CD (from Tezzabelle Publishing). Using the Greek deities and mythological characters from Homer's work to represent the people I encountered in my journey, this parody tells the tale more completely, and often humorously, of how I (as Odysseus) fumbled and bumbled my way in search of the one true love. Each step of the way is concluded by one of the songs from the album.
