I named the concert "Quintessence" not only because it was the the fifth in a series of annual concerts, but also for the following reasons:
My "9/11 Chorale" being performed on the 15th aniversar of 9/11
In "A Quintessential Sequence", the harmonic structure utillizes perfect fifths, plus a 5/8 meter is used for the head.
In "Upper and Lower Level Divergence" stacked fifths are integral to the harmonic structure.
"Diminished Expectations" is almost completely written and improvised in 5/8
