REVIEW - Gaz rockin' records: SKA STARS OF THE 80'S
By Dell (Backdoor Promotions England).

By 1990, Gaz's Rockin Records had a host of ska stars recording for its label, so the idea to release an album by Ska Stars of The 80's was a very sensible one.

Gaz Mayall invited the legendary Prince Buster on board, and his version of Stack O Lee with The Trojans, sent me in to a spasm of musical bliss the very first time I heard it. Big name UK ska acts like The Potato 5 and The Forest Hillbillies are also included on the compilation, along with another ska legend, the late, great Laurel Aitken. Gaz's Rebel Blues Rockers show just how damn cool they were in 1983, before some of their members went on to become cooler members of The Trojans.

Japanese star Mayumi Sudo is featured on the compilation too, with her version of The Trojans classic 'Ringo', while her fellow countrymen The Ska Flames show why people still talk about them twenty years later, with the superb brass explosion of Ska Fever.

To top it all off, Floyd Lloyd performs his very sweet 'Sweet Lady', with top London mashers The Potato 5. No record collection could ever be complete without Ska Stars of The 80's.
