ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
GENTLEMEN'S BLUES CLUB: Volume 1 “SHOTGUN WEDDING” is an ALL-STAR, KICK-ASS, Hard-Rockin' Blues Album by Gentlemen's Blues Club (GBC) from Los Angeles...

GBC is led by Bassist/Producer MICK STOVER (a founding member of BB CHUNG KING and THE SCREAMING BUDDAHEADS)

Gentlemen's Blues Club - Vol. 1: Shotgun Wedding is loaded with awesome Guest Stars, and boasts 3 of Southern California's most exciting Electric Blues Guitarists and the best Hammond B3 player in North America. Check out this line-up:

*** "DIRTY" DAVE OSTI *** vocalist extraordinaire, is also one of the most Soulful Guitarists on the planet. He may be legitimately labeled a master songsmith, having written over 500 great tunes! His raw, aggressive talent is beyond description... He will wear you out with his hi-energy rock songs, then sooth you back to life with his smooth acoustic masterpieces. Check out his awesome Grammy contending original song "The Thorn" on this highly acclaimed disc.

Grammy Nominee *** ALAN "BB Chung King" MIRIKITANI *** has been a West Coast Blues icon since 1988 when he masterminded the now legendary BB CHUNG KING & THE SCREAMING BUDDAHEADS. He has toured all over the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan, spreading the "GOSPEL OF THE BLUES". BB always blows your mind and shows you why they say he has "SOUL FROM DEEP DOWN IN THE HOLE!" His modern trio incarnation of THE BUDDAHEADS can be found on buddaheads.com and his CD "Mumbo Jumbo" is also sold on CD Baby

Special Guest Guitar Wunderkind *** PHILIP SAYCE *** The JAN 2006 Edition of GUITAR PLAYER MAGAZINE praised Philip's "Chewy drop-tuned riffs, wiggy bends, sassy wah, singing feedback, and waves of blistering, Fuzz Face-soaked leads". Originally from WALES via TORONTO CANADA, Phil has been tearing up the "L.A. SCENE" for the last 4 years. He has toured, recorded, and performed with such greats as MELISSA ETHRIDGE, JEFF HEALEY, UNCLE KRACKER, and DOBIE GRAY. Last year Philip appeared on JAY LENO, DAVID LETTERMAN, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, and received a standing ovation at THE 2005 GRAMMY PRESENTATIONS as the featured guitarist in The Melissa Ethridge Band. His debut American solo CD "Peace Machine" is also available on CD Baby. Check out philipsayce.com for more info

*** TEDDY ZIGZAG *** is LA's "first call" Hammond B3 KEYBOARD player. He toured with GUNS & ROSES in their heyday (including their infamous WEMBLY STADIUM performances in England) Ted played extensively with CAROLE KING & SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, and currently tours with ALICE COOPER. Ted also plays a mean blues harp, and has been featured in numerous movie releases & TV productions. He undoubtedly is one of the very best MCs in the music business. Check out his highly impressive discography on teddyzigzag.com

Drummer, Producer, Actor *** DAVID RAVEN *** is one of the most sought-after drummers in Los Angeles. His album credits include STEVE JONES (of the SEX PISTOLS), RICKY MARTIN, IGGY POP, DREAD ZEPPELIN, BOBBY WOMACK, The SURFARIS, The MEAT PUPPETS, and his own personal project The MOJO MONKEYS. He is featured in the “Off-Broadway” smash, MUTAYTOR. Check out his alter-ego “Hambone Hix” at mutaytor.com/cast/member/hambone

*** MICK STOVER *** 6'3" of throbbing bass groove, Mick toured JAPAN, the US and Canada with BB CHUNG KING & THE SCREAMING BUDDAHEADS sharing bills with JOHNNY WINTER, PAT TRAVERS, OTIS RUSH, GREAT WHITE, NAZARETH, ROBIN TROWER, & the great BB KING. He has played onstage with SLASH, ERNIE ISLEY, CC DeVILLE, DWEEZIL ZAPPA, STEVE STEVENS, GILBY CLARKE, JOE BONAMASSA, etc. Check out his bio and discography at GentlemensBluesClub.com

i really liked this cd. why havent i heard of these gentlemen before?
i have to confess that i stole this cd from my girlfriend dominique who got it at a show in pasadena. and when i saw the hot seminude chick on the disc i thought it would be too heavyhanded. instead i think this is my new favorite cd and im not giving it back. the cd is white hot and the guys are talented and handsome. i like the songs alot. some songs like aztec hotel rock real hard and get me horny for a man and then the gift of life made me cry like a wimp. i say that is cool. i recommend the cd to everyone.

Fred Schmidtlein - Home of Rock, Das Rock Magazin

great potential
This should have been one of the best blues albums released since a long time.
But alltough the songs are great, the solo's of the three guitarplayers should have been longer.
If they will do so in volume 2, these gentlemen will be
the top in the blues rock scene.

GBC's SHOTGUN WEDDING CD IS EMBRACED BY GERMANY
The album rocked my world. It took me on a journey from birth, to life, to death, to re-birth in less than an hour... That's why it doesn't surprise me that "SHOTGUN WEDDING", the powerful, delicious debut album from GENTLEMEN'S BLUES CLUB has hit the charts in Germany. Dave Osti's "DUST BROOM" is in this week's "TOP 20 POWER SONGS". But that doesn't explain why 18 rowdy German Bikers were chanting "DIRTY DAVE! DIRTY DAVE!" and singing the GBC song *Aztec Hotel* outside a famous Munich drinking establishment, while being arrested for "DRUNK & DISORDERLY". Luckily, no critical injuries were reported... Europe is quickly finding out what I knew a long time ago, that the quality and pure hot vibe of this record is "off-the-charts". I am already asking when "GBC: Vol. 2" will be released. They have my vote for "the most fully-erect CD by an L.A. band". The highly testosterone-driven (yet highly estrogen-friendly) multifaceted, upper echelon approach definitely puts GBC's SHOTGUN WEDDING in the highest category of my rating system. FIVE STARS ***** A MASTERPIECE!!

Favorite CD of the Year - Any Genre
Great CD. Congrats to Dirty Dave, I dig your soulful style, brutha. I love this G'Men Club concept. A club for exceptional Blues Gentlemen. Never a weak tune in sight. In the heart of Groove City. A world where some of the greatest contemporary artists of this period engage in musical intercourse. Inspired and refreshing. Powerful and euphoria inducing. Consistent and impressive. Great B3. Only one question. Where's volume II?

These Gentlemen kick ass
... Gentlemen’s Blues Club could be described as something of a super group, composed of members who all come with impressive musical resumes. Band leader and bassist Michael Stover is one of the founders of the infamous BB Chung King & the Screaming Buddaheads, a band long known for its “party ‘til you drop” blues rock style. Vocalist/guitarist “Dirty Dave” Osti is credited with having written over 500 songs, as well as being one of the most respected blues-rock guitarists in Southern California. His song, “The Thorn,” on the GBC disc “Shotgun Wedding,” was nominated for a Grammy. Drummer, producer and actor David Raven is also a familiar face on the LA music scene, with a list of album credits as long as a Fender Strat. He’s worked with Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Ricky Martin, Iggy Pop, Dread Zeppelin, Nancy Sinatra, The Surfaris and many more. Keyboardist Teddy Zigzag is a top-call Hammond B3 master, having worked with Guns & Roses, Alice Cooper and many other top names. In addition, GBC is often joined onstage by luminaries Alan “BB Chung King” Mirkitani (front man of the Buddaheads), guitarist/vocalist Philip Sayce (Melissa Ethridge, Jeff Healey) and drummers Lee Spath (Buddaheads) and Joe Travers (Zappa). If you like your blues hard and sweaty, this... is it.

This could be the most important new band since the Yardbirds.
I had heard rumors about a new Power Blues band from the LA area and I finally chased down a copy of Shotgun Wedding by The GBC. 1 word for this release: WOW.

The cuts on this album range from powerful, blistering, and ZZ Top-esque (Living at the Aztec Hotel & Shotgun Wedding) to cool, smooth, and soulful with insightful lyrics (Like the Thorn Protects the Rose & The Gift of Life).

There is something for everybody in this great album. For the Blues Purists, there are the 2 straight-ahead Blues cuts: Lyndell Shuffle & Miser Blues. Children of the '60s & '70s (like myself) will appreciate the extremely well-crafted cover versions of White Room & Whipping Post.

The players are superlative - Philip Sayce (Jeff Healey Band, Melissa Ethridge) is utterly incredible. His soulful vocals and guitar solos are worth the price of admission alone... Dave Osti is new to me, but the 5 songs he wrote & sang showcase an undiscovered songwriting genius... Teddy ZigZag (Guns & Roses, Carole King, Alice Cooper) is a master of the B3 and a great string arranger... Michael Stover (BB Chung King and the Screaming Buddaheads) has the greasiest groove I've heard from a bass player since Tommy Shannon (SRV) and Dusty Hill (ZZ Top) in the '80s... BB Chung King is simply the best modern Blues guitarist in LA, bar none... Not a weak one in the bunch.

Moreover, I love the way that this whole album was produced. Michael Stover has found a way to feature the songs, the individuals, and the collective vibe of this great band, all without compromise. It is like the great Eagles album "Hotel California" in that all 4 vocalists featured on this album have their own unique style and are perfect for the songs they interpret. And like Hotel California, when their tunes are put together in album form, the result is a masterpiece that feels like a great movie that make you laugh, makes you cry, and gets you hard over and over. Good job, guys.

Kudos to all of the players on this MUST-HAVE CD. We anxiously await the follow-up album from the Gentlemen's Blues Club... 2 thumbs up!
