ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I was born in Chicago (a city boy with a country soul) and grew up on the south side of Evanston, Illinois. At the age of 13 I begged my sister to teach me guitar. The minute I knew 2 chords I wrote my first song. The music was a bit repetitive, but the lyrics...
My influences back then we’re Elvis Presley, Carol King, James Taylor, Todd Rundgren and Stevie Wonder just to name a few. As I got older The Eagles, David Bowie, The Who, The Guess Who and The Doors took over. Then came the country invasion with Garth Brooks and Toby Keith... but through it all Bruce Springsteen and The Beatles.
i always focused on the lyrics such as side one of Best Of Bread album. The words made me laugh and cry and gave me quotes to help friends out of sad times. My musicianship has always been lacking which is why it took me so long to finally record an album. Thanks to Marc Ellis I‘m finally here.
"Life's Too Short" was written to help a friend get out of a funk after his mother passed away.
"Perfect Moments" was written about my childhood.
"Beyond Repair" was written about a woman I worked with... something about the look in her eye.
"My Heart Jumped A Mile High" is about being too shy to ask someone out... and the consequences of waiting too long, sort of.
"Your Angelic Face" was written from a friends point of view who had lost his wife to cancer.
"Little Girl" was written when my daughter was only about 4 years old and I was worrying about how she might turn out... and out came these words of wisdom... ha.
"Last Safe Place" was written about going home and needing to find that place you felt the safest... and spoiler alert, it wasn't about home.
"Gentleman Jack" was written about turning to the bottle when your girl leaves you, but the thought that maybe you turned to a close friend is there as well...
"Where Are You Dr. King" is a folk song I wrote shortly after GWB took office and we invaded Iraq... it's not anti war, it's just about finding peace.
"My Poor Heart" is about the pain of having someone leave you and getting over that... may take some time and it feel like your heart has left your body.
A lot of my heart went into writing and singing these songs.
I hope you love them... let me know.
