ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Passion of the Mic showcases another side of Genolexis that sounds like a mix-tape but flows through each cut with ease throughout the album. Unlike the Living the Dream album; Passion carries several producers (DJ Laptop, Madd Smooth Music, InstrumenTOOL and Traxx Man) that places Genolexis through multiple scenarios with a soundtrack fit for the seventies with nineties hip hop feel. With the soulful brief introduction "Is It Worth It" along with the painful angelic tones of R&B songstress Aja Lorraine, its clear that more revelations aside thought provoking lyrics accompany what lies ahead. "Dear Alicia" puts the listener in the footsteps of a fan with a crush on a celebrity while "Save the World" straps you to the backseat of a introspective hero saving one neighborhood at a time, 'I want to save the world, paint mental images to boys and the girls; no amount of pearls or diamonds amount to a soul of a child, too many people living in denial...'.
Be Me' and 'Searching for Perfect' gives room for Genolexis to feel at home as he sings, 'If im gonna be someone, I rather be like me" and "Even though that you know I ain't perfect, still stay searching". 'Nothing New' and 'In Your Face' brings the head nodding beats up a notch with the narrator in full storytelling mode.
Passion of the Mic is a good introduction to a new Genolexis listener and a new perspective with old school production from anyone who has followed since his Living the Dream debut.
