Album Notes
Classical Net: “Jerry Gerber, virtuoso MIDI-meister, gets us to drop our jaws in astonishment yet again..”

Arts & Opinion: "Jerry Gerber writes for serious music lovers, not ivory tower musicologists, and for this, the music world is more varied and richer. Which means when a young person downloads a file of orchestral music from the Internet, it may well be a symphony composed by Jerry Gerber."

Robert Firpo-Cappiello: "Jerry Gerber is a master of orchestration..."

Electronic Music Foundation: "The sounds that Gerber has chosen portray his music with a sense of presence and realism. He is a master of MIDI orchestration..."

Beautiful Compositions
I was on the cakewalk site, Jerry, and saw your post to listen to your songs. I am listening to your music and poetry and I am inspired to upgrade to Producer 5. : ) These are some very rich productions. The vocalists are so clear, creative instrumentals selections, attractive melodies, very well balanced and well written. Lots of thought went into this cd. "In Praise of Poets" is a display of more reasons why indie artists are so important.

In Praise of Poets is a rare example of poetry set to modern classical music where the integrity of both the poetry and the music remain intact. The majestic, musical settings showpiece these poems whose semantics are never lost thanks to the singer's abilities to clearly articulate while using their voices as beautiful instruments. While every track on the CD works for me, my favorite pieces are those that feature individual voices, perhaps because they give the feel of a poet directly sharing his or her work. I particularly appreciate Dale Tracy's beautiful tenor on Echo and This World is Not Conclusion for both his soaring vowels and his ability to reflect the emotional quality of the poems with the inflections of his voice.

Musically and poetically powerful set of vocal performances
The words should be read when listening to these performances to fully appreciate the composers choices for musical expression. This is poetry from 4000 B.C. to the present and from around the world and Jerry Gerber has conscripted three wonderfully expressive singers to convey the poets meanings while setting them to a wonderfully composed digital orchestra. Jerry is adept at weaving together the rich aural content of the classical orchestra and vocal song with the exciting possibilties of modern synthesized sounds. The result is a natural and satisfying one and highlights Jerry's exceptional rythmic, melodic, and harmonic composing skills. The singers deserve due credit for thier performances which are both expressive and powerful. Great stuff!
