ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lo-fi, high-energy rock 'n' roll defines the sound of Portland, Oregon's The Get Me Downs. Littering their songs with cool hooks and smart lyrics, they pay homage to their early Northwest garage rock ancestors, The Sonics and the Kingsmen.

The Get Me downs consist of Anne Stark on bass and vocals; Michael Donhowe on guitar and vocals; and Eric Alto on Drums. Both Donhowe and Stark formerly played in the power pop band Sugarboom, while Alto did a stint with the group Pilot. Since the groups formation in the Fall of 2002, they have developed into a terrific live act which draws on the considerable song writing skills of both Stark and Donhowe, as well as the trio's unabashed approach to rocking out with three chords and having fun.

"burn this EP" is the Get Me Downs debut release.

Sexsie Volvo
I, also, heard part of "Sexsie Volvo" on Car Talk, and -- like all of the other Volvo owners -- I had to buy the CD. I'm going to buy two more as gifts. The music is good!

Sexsie, Sexsie
I heard the song "Sexsie Volvo" on Car Talk a week or two ago and the combination of loving the unrepentent three-chord crunchy joy of the sound and my wife's sentimental attachment to Volvos -- especially old Volvos -- prompted me to seek out and buy the CD. It's hard to give an objective review of the CD, because I still haven't worked out of my "obsessed with that one song" stage, yet. But this CD rocks, I can say that.

Sehr kuhl!!
I mean its actually the hottest mix of dirty 60's garage sound and melodic 77 style punk rock I've heard for ages. Very cool.

Every Volvo needs this CD!
OK, so the Volvo reference hooked me in, but now I find myself listening to the whole CD over and over. It's a trip back to college radio in 1979 - hard hitting, true rockin stuff. Glad to hear a band that hasn't been watered down by what's in fashion or politically correct...

Fun played loud. Essence of B-52s
This would be a great band to see at a bar. Good sound but kind of limited range if you know what I mean. If they come out with another I will check it out.
