Two Roses & a Thistle

by gfire

Three highly creative tunes - a low-end dub celebration with loads of space echoes 'n' girls in Jamaica harmonies; an anti-love alt rocker in plenty of time for Valentine's Day '08; and a fabulous holiday song.

Album Notes
gfire biography

It's possible that you've never heard of Austin-based gfire, but that's not a state of affairs that's likely to last much longer. From Australia to Connecticut, from Canada to the Netherlands, gfire's music is in worldwide rotation. DJs across the globe are spinning her latest full-length CD "triangle" and her newest recording, the 3-song EP, "Two Roses & a Thistle" and setting the airwaves ablaze with her infusion and unique branding of Americana and Electronica.

The key to gfire's heady allure may be her voice: ethereal without being wispy, passionate (but not enough to leave marks), and brazenly self-assured--some say it is the best three-and-one-half octave voice in Texas. Her inspiration is Kate Bush. In fall 2007 gfire flew to London and passed her final singing exam with the well respected Ernest George White Society, a society of professionally trained musicians with forward thinking on how the artist can tap into one's voice using the sinuses to maximize one's vocal creative possibilities. gfire has capitalized on this and is a big believer in breathing techniques through yoga and singing to bring one's art to new heights-- both "triangle" and "Two Roses & a Thistle" are beautiful examples of this.

"Two Roses & a Thistle" was produced by gfire and engineered by Stuart Sullivan (who earned gold records with Butthole Surfers, Sublime, Willie Nelson). Visit her website at and listen to her music at
