Album Notes

...Her lyrics are Spiritual, Political, and Social Commentaries. She is called Ghetto Gospel, Ghetto, because she expresses truth in candor. You know telling it like it is and all that biz. She was born and raised in Compton California. Ghetto Gospel is forty five years old with a surprising young soul. She belts out lyrical verses to reach that one listener who happens to open an ear. Her lyrics have been tagged as "...deep" and "...a fantasy." However listeners receive her, she performs and records to reach and teach.
Her gift from God to write factors the lyrics brought through a heartfelt attitude. She is a member of ASCAP, EQCA and HRC. Equality and Civil Rights also burst through in her lyrics. Her poetry piece "Midst of a Rainbow" was featured on EQCA's web site in 2002.

Her lyrics are offset by Gospel because her parents did the groundwork. They kept her always in church, then Christ did more work and gave her a new birth. She was born and raised in Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) in a little church on Kalmia Street in Watts, California. Attending church there at an early age left an impact on her life.
She self-produced her first Spoken Lyric CD called "I Don't Understand Christianz." under the production of Hotwordz. Her performance venues consist of The Kotton Club, The Catch One, Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Chelsey's PlayHouse, Christ Chapel of Long Beach, Shades of Afrika, The Village Grind Coffee Lounge & Art, Coffee Haven, Viento y Agua in Long Beach which is her favorite spot to get up on the mic, The Gay & Lesbian Center Long Beach, and Spiritual Truths Unity Church in Long Beach.

The spoken lyric CD, Ghetto Gospel "i don't understand christianz" is set to tracks from Execlife Studios located in Bellflower, California. Ghetto Gospel had some words to express and Execlife, another Independent Artist assisted to make the CD jump and release music for your mind. The music compliments as her thoughts releases lyrics for your mind.

passionate truth-proclaiming from the heart
When you put the disc in the player, and take a listen to this work, you can see, feel, and hear that it is a genuine article from a frontline soldier on the ground in the current social/policital/religious/culture war that is modern day America. Complementary backing tracks that enhance without distracting, spoken word poetry, and stream of consciousness pulls the listener in, to be inspired, educated, humanized, understood, and woken up! A perfect soundtrack for self-identified gay followers-of-Jesus wanting to hear themselves reflected back in the voice of a strong, painfully honest, and wizened soul. Get this disc and you support not only Ghetto Gospel, but your self, through its life-affirming message of Truth, as well.
