ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Recording and releasing an album is an acid test for just about any band, and Ghost of Science have made an art of patience. Forming in 1999 as a quartet based in British Columbia's music-mosaic town, Victoria, they spent three years writing and recording only to change their name, take on a fifth member and start over.

"You derive your inspiration from the groups you love and follow and you shouldn't be afraid to admit that." Gilles Maillet (singer/guitarist of GOS)

Under a new moniker and with a remarkable debut EP in the can, Ghost of Science only now start to live up to the comparisons to the likes of, Jeff Buckley, The Shins, and Radiohead, and bring a welcome honesty and indestructible passion for music to the stage and to their fans. With the new EP, touting a bordering on self-effacing title '[safe]', Ghost of Science enter a rich Canadian independent music community and they are leaving a distinguishable mark of their own.

"There is no one in Canada doing what they are doing..." Tom Landa (The Paperboys)

This band's penchant for writing "...like-it-or-not, catchy brooding alt-rock", does not forfeit the group's ability to branch out into an exploration of guitar and synth soundscapes that read out loud the unseen darker side of Coldplay, and let fly the cascading vocals that have local press maintaining "They sound like the new incarnation of Incubus."(Rose Dennan - BrandX Media, Victoria, BC).

With a Western Canada tour behind them, and another nationwide Tour planned for Spring 2005, GOS haved proved themselves ear-worthy as they fearlessly take audiences to yet another level in Canadian music experience.

Excellent, inventive... even in solo performance
Inventive, moving music, that can touch your brain, heart and body, interesting lyrics, lots of images, go deep musically and poetically and they are so Young. I have to say that the songwritter being this have a lot of charism live. Bravo!

I Can't Wait
Its a quirk how I came by this album and group. (You won't believe, a christmas letter.) The cd is very easy to listen to and has a great deal of music ability. I can't wait to get accepted to UBC so I can actually go hear these guys live.

This cd rocks!
THis cd is great. Number one is by far my most favorite, it's what caused me to buy this cd. I wish the cd was longer, its so good i play it twice in a row. THe reason i don't give it 5 stars is b/c the cd is so short; 7 songs is not enough for me. YOu'll enjoy this cd-trust me!

A great first effort
I saw this band for the first time while traveling through Vancouver, and while this recording is not as spectacular as their live show, it's still one of my favorite indie band purchases in the last year. Vocals are amazing, and the drum tracks are unusual and interesting. This disc seems to be a lot tamer than the live stuff, and a little less imaginative, but great nonetheless. Can't wait to see what these guys do next!

Impressive
Hot and excellent CD, esp. first track. Lyrics interesting and meaningful. The instrumentation is the band's strongest point -- esp. guitar. The only reason I did not give "safe" 5 stars is the lead singer seems to have a compulsion to sing over the instrumention all the time. He has a great voice, but the band is amazingly creative and should be heard more.
