Album Notes
This CD "Italian Signorina" of singer/songwriter Giada Valenti features the song 'Caruso' that she performed in 2005 and 2006 on the Red Carpet at the Columbus Day Parade in New York City, which was broadcasted live by NBC. At the moment Giada's music is played at more then 45 radio stations in the USA and this is still growing.

Giada is recognized for her special voice and great stage presence. In Italy people say she sounds like Mina and Ornella Vanoni. In the United States she is often compared with Peggy Lee, Diana Krall, Connie Francis, Norah Jones and Keely Smith.

Producer Sonny Grosso and musical director Phil Ramone selected Giada for a role the upcoming Broadway musical “Be My Love”, based on the life story of the famous tenor Mario Lanza.

Music from this CD was featured in a television special with American figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.

For her new CD Giada made also a wonderful new interpretation of the song ‘Quando, Quando, Quando’, which is the favorite song of her parents; they danced for the first time on this tune. With the song ‘Italian Signora’ Giada is what you could call a signature song, where she tells more about her self, but it is also a song for all Italian(-American) women in the US. In ‘But Beautiful’ she showcases not only her love for her husband, but also her writing skills. In “I’m A Woman” Giada tells in her own way that men and women are different.

The CD is partly recorded in Europe and partly in New York. The music is recorded in one of the best studios of Denmark. And the vocals are recorded in the famous Quad Studios in New York. She worked together for this CD with the Scandinavian producer Joachim Hejslet Jorgensen, with whom she wrote also some songs for this CD.

Giada dedicates the CD ‘Italian Signorina’ to two great Italian American heroes, two brothers who died on 9-11 trying to save the lives of others: Fire Fighter John T. Vigiano and Detective Joseph V. Vigiano. Giada met the parents of these two servicemen in April of 2005 at one of her performances. The story of Mr. and Mrs. Vigiano made such an impression on her. Giada has her apartment near ‘Ground Zero’ in New York and thinks about the John and Joseph Vigiano every time she passes the former WTC. As their beautiful parents requested her, she will pray for them and will never forget!

Giada is already working her next CD. A full CD with twelve songs with more romantic Italian and American standards. The music on this CD will have again a nice elegant pop-jazz sound.

With the repertoire of her new CD and other famous Italian tunes and American Songbook standards Giada also created a wonderful show, titled “La Dolce Vita Swings”. In this show she takes her audience on a virtual trip to Italy. She sings songs that were once performed by legends as Peggy Lee, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Connie Francis and Frank Sinatra, but then in her own way, with new fresh arrangements. As introduction of the songs Giada tell nice stories (anecdotes) about Italy and her own life.

Giada is born and raised in Venice, Italy. She started to sing and play piano at the age of 7. And she was already touring professionally with a band at the age of 12. She studied piano and music theory at the Santa Cecilia music school in Venice and got her music degree at the G.Tartini Institute in Trieste. She also took singing lessons in Venice with American jazz singer Down Mitchell.

While she was studying psychology at the University of Padova, she participated in the song contest “San Remo New Talents in the World” and won with her pop ballad "Solo Con Te" (Only With You). This led to a record contract with BMG in Europe. The album had a successful run in Europe. One of the tracks was used in a radio and television commercial for Piaggio scooters.

When Giada found her new home in New York, she formed straight away a new band and is performing regularly in clubs and hotels in New York City and in the Tri State Area.

On November 26th 2005 Giada has started to perform as a special guest in the show “Saturday Nights with Joe Piscopo” in the Sands Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

On February, March and June 2006 she performed her own created show “La Dolce Vita Swings”, in a sold out Dicapo Theatre in New York. Starting this summer Giada will start to tour through the USA with this show.

In the summer Giada will spend also time in the studio to record a new CD.

Breathtakingly Beautiful Music
I heard the song "Caruso" played during a nationally televised skating performance. The song was so gorgeous I couldn't even finish watching the skating. I immediately ran over to my computer and began searching for the name and performer of this song. It took me a while, but it was so worth it. The only disappointment I have is that the CD only has 5 songs on it. I can't wait to buy Giada's next release. Her song choices are so elegant and sexy. Was surprised to hear so much jazz on the record. I assumed it would be more of an Italian ballad collection. Plus, her execution is perfect, and the musicians accompanying her are too. She's not one of those singers with a powerhouse voice, but what she's able to do with it definitely works. I listened to it over and over again on repeat so I could absorb every note. Thank you CD Baby for carrying this artist. Also, your website is very user friendly and feels more personal than most other music sites.
