ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Gifts or Creatures is the musical pursuit of husband-wife Brandon and Bethany Foote. The couple fuses a blend of midwestern folklore, old world history and cinematic soundscapes to create a trove of antique Americana.

The Lansing based act assembled a team of Michigan's finest musicians for their sophomore release, Yesteryear Western Darkness. The ensemble focused album is brimming with electric guitars, Wurlitzer piano, pump organ, pedal steel and vibraphone. Throughout the record, Brandon's songs survey a wide gamut of historical themes and the ever-changing scenery of 21st century America.

Since the release of their 2010 freshman outing, Pilot House, Gifts or Creatures have performed consistently throughout the Midwest supporting a wide range of acts including Breathe Owl Breathe, Blitzen Trapper, and Frontier Ruckus. Brandon & Bethany are also active members of Michigan's Earthwork Music Collective, advocating for original music and environmental awareness throughout the Great Lakes region.
