ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Written and performed by Gina Loring
Produced by Damion Anderson
Mixed & Mastered by Steven Valenzuela

Just in time for Halloween, the single “Blacula’s Child” marks the first release from LA based vocalist/poet Gina Loring and British producer Damion Anderson. While the soulful trip-hop tone of the song (think Portishead meets Lauryn Hill) creates a hypnotic vibe that might make you want to keep it on repeat, the backstory is the kicker: Gina Loring is literally Blacula’s child. The daughter of actor William Marshall, she grew up watching him on TV and film, but didn’t meet him until she was twenty. “Blacula’s Child” refers to his best known role, and lyrically blurs the lines between fiction, myth and reality. In an innovative, genre-bending sound, Loring’s work incorporates elements of the poetic skill she became known for after two impressive appearances on HBO’s Def Poetry. “Blacula’s Child” is a beautifully haunting song that will definitley have us looking out for more music from this creative voice.
