Album Notes
I love music written and adapted to the classical guitar! For me it is the perfect solo instrument in terms of tonal beauty and deep enchanting expression. I also love Rock-n-Roll: pure, loud and honest! With these two distant styles of music I spent my apprenticeship, and it is here that I currently meander.
My first band was an original heavy metal group called Rising, in which I played lead guitar. My brother Tom Dumont, guitarist for No Doubt, also took refuge in Rising for several years. At this time, I studied guitar and lute performance at the University of California in Irvine. This seems many lives ago!
I took up singing some time back, and currently perform as a solo artist .
This album is the first I've recorded on my own. "Mirrors" is a reflection of the last 20 years, presenting solo guitar pieces as well as my originals - with a full band. Yes!!
I hired my sound recording guy, Gabriel to add percussion; borrowed a bass guitar and added the rest of the rhythmic section; and finally, got out my Charvel Jackson to add the rockin' guitar solos.
Oh...and there's a very special appearance by brother Tom and his guitar wizardry on A Gathering.
