Album Notes
Northern California's Ginger Parish, singer-songwriter and music educator, offers this collection of lullabies to delight and soothe you and the children in your lives. Ginger was a founding member of the now-disbanded trio "Three At Last" (also here on CD Baby). Her beautiful voice and harmonies, and her thoughtful, gentle lyrics are brought with passion and joy. Winner of a 2013 Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award, this CD is a dream realized. It was woven with love, and with tasteful musical contributions from some fine Sonoma County musicians. The text below is from the liner notes of the CD:

Twilight Comes Tiptoeing is the result of a combination of my restless passion for singing and my child’s early years. Most of these lullabies were born on a rocking chair while I rocked and sang my baby boy to sleep. I have known no greater sweetness, no greater depth of connection, than those times. As I would rock and sing to him, my mind would wander to
soothing, gentle images that found their way into my songs.
Recording this CD was a journey in itself. It took years for me to finally do it. At the time of this recording, my “baby” boy was 12 years old, and he appears here singing on two songs! It was so much fun to do, and wonderful to have the help of so many great contributing musicians.
These lullabies have been “field-tested” over time and proven to work wonders! I have taught many of them to families in my early childhood music classes, and they have become favorites at naptime and bedtime.
It is my fondest hope that you will learn these songs and sing them to your children. Insert your child’s name, make up new words (...time to go to sleep T-rex?), make them your family’s own. Nothing quite equals the sweetness of singing quietly to a child; it is one of the most nurturing things we can do as parents. When you sing a lullaby, you give your heart and love in a musical way just when your child is sleepy and receptive. Children love to be sung to for many years. Keep it up - even eight and nine year-olds love to share in this way! I can remember my mother and father singing at my bedside, my father sometimes playing his guitar to help me fall asleep. These memories are precious indeed.
The song 'Twilight Comes Tiptoeing' is the first lullaby I created, when my son Loren was just 7 months old. Tired of singing the same lullabies every day, I just kept making up new ones! The most recent, 'Roll Away,' written in 2010, is almost more for me than for my son. I hope you find it soothing at the end of a long day like I do. 'Nani' is in both Greek and English. The two songs I did not write, 'Star of the County Down' (from Ireland), and 'Si Hei Lwli' (from Wales), are both traditional, adapted by me. I wrote the English words for Si Hei Lwli.
Thanks to all the musicians who played so beautifully, and to Matt Wright at Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, CA for his guidance and attention to detail. Thanks to my mom and dad for instilling a love of music in me so early in my life. Thanks, as always, to Michael for his constant support and encouragement, and for all the nights our child got to drift off to sleep with both his parents singing.

A last note:
Ginger's strong respect for the earth and committment to the environment is reflected in the CD's packaging. Green forestry practices, all vegetable inks, biodegradeable, recyclable, and made with recycled content - only the disc itself is plastic!

Get it---for yourself and everyone else you know
This is not just children's music, this is beautiful music for everyone. It is so inspiring to listen to Ginger and particularly her duets with her son Loren. Ginger is a flawless musician with an amazing voice. This CD is one of CD of "children's music" you will find yourself reaching for even when the kids are already asleep. This would make an excellent gift for new parents, yourself, or your own parents.

Wonderful CD!
This CD is wonderful and was definitely worth the wait! Both of my daughters love to listen to it and now request I sing them the songs before naps and bed. Each song is so soothing and fun to listen to. I find myself listening to them even when my kids aren't around. You will not be disapointed!

As a mother to an Autistic child with sensory issues, I found Gingers music works miracles for my son. When the world overwhelms him he finds such comfort in Gingers music, it is such a blessing! I brought this CD to Yoga class and the women LOVED IT. We are all children at heart and this music nurtures mine. Thank you Ginger!

Relaxing for the whole family
This collection of lullabies is soothing for everyone in our house - the songs are simple enough for our son to learn and sing along to, and the melodies are adult enough to keep my husband and I happy when this album is on. I highly recommend this album!

Twilight Comes Tiptoeing
We have enjoyed Ginger's lullabies in our household for many years. Ginger always reminds us that you can never have too many lullabies to sing to your child. She is right! These are beautiful songs, worthy of naptime, nighttime or anytime routine.

Lulling lyrics and melodious music...a "must have" CD!
This collection of sweet lullabies will surely become a favorite for young children and their families. Ginger's sweet voice, coupled with beautiful harmonies and thoughtful, sensitive lyrics has created a wonderful compilation of endearing...and enduring...songs. Ginger's music embodies her own personal connection with children, nature, and wildlife. Each song delivers a positive message about humanity and respect for the world we live in. This wonderful CD will feed your children's musical souls, bring smiles to their faces, and impart on them very positive images about themselves and their world.

Lullabies to Savor
With much enthusiasm and a pull on my heart, I highly recommend Ginger Parish's CD of Lullabies, Twilight Comes Tiptoeing. The poignant songs on this album strongly summon precious memories of singing to my own child, with their comforting melodies and compelling instrumentals. Ginger Parish's resonant voice has an emotional quality that reaches deep. The title song, "Twilight Comes Tiptoeing," is an especially strong example of that richness. I re-played "Sweet, Sweet Wind," three times in a row because I found it so gratifying. My favorites, though, are the songs on which her 12 yr old son, Loren, joins her on the vocals. The purity of their voices is highlighted in harmony. "Close Your Eyes" is a sweet modeling of the connection between parent and child.

This album's songs are easily remembered and a great source for building your own lullaby repertoire. They also provide that special experience to build a heartfelt connection with your child, one they will always remember. "Nani" is a great place to start because the title is repeated often and the catchy tune is easily accessible.

Parish is a gifted song writer. My favorite source of inspiration is when she rocked her child to sleep, the location where most of these songs were born. She writes, "I have known no greater sweetness, no greater depth of connection, than those times."

All is well!
For anyone who leads a busy life, this CD is just the thing. The beautiful songs slow the world down. I am able to take a breath and notice my blessings. I enjoy that at least two of the songs were inspired by wanting to sing more than "the same tired lullabies" to her son.

Wonderful Music
This CD never gets left behind; in the car, at home, at grandmas house, our 14 month old son absolutely loves to listen to this music. We love to see Avi's smile while he listens (and falls asleep!), and we can enjoy this music with him. Thank you Ginger, for such a thoughtful and well made album!

Sweet and soothing
Don't hesitate - this album of lullabies is simply fantastic. Ginger's voice is lyrical, and you and your children will find yourselves first humming and soon singing the tunes. Keep it in the music player on the night stand - you'll love it!
