Album Notes
The San Francisco ChamberJazz Quartet was co-founded in 2002 by Gini Wilson and Steve Heckman.
"Enormously gifted Bay-area pianist and composer Gini Wilson puts her own spin on the concept with a musical direction she has labeled chamberjazz· an eclectic repertoire of quartet pieces... that delight no matter which side of the jazz/classical dichotomy you this tasteful and accomplished cannot be bound by genres." - Ken Hohman, All About Jazz. "The legendary Wilson is not just an outstanding pianist, she's also a witty entertainer." - Phil Elwood, San Francisco Examiner. * Saxophonist/composer Steve Heckman's work has been praised by saxophonists as distinguished and diverse as Charles Lloyd: "A beautiful talent"; Stan Getz: "Beautiful!" and Pharaoh Sanders: "This cat can play!" Heckman's recent 3rd release as a leader, Search For Peace" is currently number 12 (December 2014) on the national jazz radio charts. Featuring Jackie Ryan on one vocalese track and premier bassists Pat Klobas and John Wiitala and with the venerable Ron Marabuto on drums: these emotionally driven tangos, sambas and classical adaptations will
surprise you with elegant and masterful jazz improvisation.
