Album Notes
Who do we listen to? I always fall back to first love and stevie wonder. MICHAEL MCDONALD IS MY UTMOST FAVOURITE VOICE IN THE UNIVERSE. I love songs and dance music. Clever words, words that move me, and music that moves me physically too. I - Gitika am a singer/songwriter and vocal arranger from London England. At the moment i am running singing workshops and acapella community choirs in and around London, getting the chance to arrange all my favourite pop songs ever!. I also write dance music on Logic Pro and soon will be finishing an album of dance tracks for kids some of which can already be seen with videos all produced on imovies by me on YOUTUBE -'Rabbit in Your Rucksack' & 'He's a Happy Pig' to name but 2! I have sung all styles of music over the years including Jazz ( studied at the Guildhall on the Jazz course for a year in 1990), reggae folk and pop. I met Mickey in 1983 when he was playing in a band called Penguin fury, and they spent about 7 years working full time with him on songs, and the next 5 years part- time while they both worked on other projects. Mickey is a fine guitarist who has performed with many varied performers over the years including Edwin Starr and members of the Stranglers and his style is as varied as motown to punk! Gitika and Mickey spent time gigging together around London and writing masses of songs. For a time the songs got very 'studio based' until they started an acoustic club in London which still runs 9 years later once a month in The Star in Dartmouth Park. Stripping down the songs to guitar and voice bought new life into many of the songs although they are producing an album of studio songs too. This is a fine compilation of some of our favourites..all done without drop ins -in one single take as to get some real sense of performance and they are lasting well. It was released in 2002 but like a fine wine just is getting better and better with age! Try it you might like it! x x x
