ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Giulia Haible and Caroline Dressler play traditional and contemporary celtic music, including many of their own compositions in that style. Inspired mainly by music from the Scottish tradition, Giulia and Caroline's sound features robust harmonies, jazzy riffs, and melancholic refrains, all woven together to create a complex and appealing sound. While their jigs and reels have you on your feet dancing, there is a modern flavor that is easily detected, one that is inspired by jazz, classical, and other contemporary music styles. With instrumental combinations including cello, piano, fiddle and viola (with the occasional guitar, bass, or drum kit), Giulia and Caroline are able to apply diversity to their tone. Giulia and Caroline have appeared alongside many U.S. Scottish fiddlers including Katie McNally (who produced their album, Dragonfly), Hanneke Cassel, Alasdair Fraser, and Natalie Haas. They have toured through England and Scotland with legend Pete Sutherland and Young Tradition Vermont, and also play in the Boston-based fiddle quintet, Scottish Fish. Caroline is the two-time winner of the New England Regional Junior Scottish Fiddle Championship, and was the runner-up to the national title, while Giulia received the award of Best Air.
