ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The second full-length solo effort from Glenn Sutter ('sue-ter'), a gentle but fiery folk-rocker from Regina, Saskatchewan. Drawing on deep prairie roots and classical training, Sutter uses thoughtful lyrics and moving melodies to express ideas about nature, love, and the human condition. As one fan put it, he is "intelligent and emotional - the real thing!"

Glenn grew up in the 1970s as part of musical family in Souris, Manitoba, drawing inspiration from small-town life, sweeping prairie landscapes, and all sorts of music, especially the Beatles, the Stones, and Neil Young. His main influences now include Blue Rodeo, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, and John Prine.

After supporting other musicians for over 20 years, Glenn launched his critically acclaimed debut CD “All You Need” in 2008. Since then, his music has been featured on many daytime radio programs, including a provincial Earth Day show on CBC Radio1. He has also released a live 2010 fund-raising album called “Seeds” with Brett Dolter (Library Voices, B.D. Willoughby).

In September 2010, Glenn received nationwide acclaim when his tune "Weight of the World" was chosen winner and official Saskatchewan Song on David Suzuki's "Playlist for the Planet" (CBC Radio3). The official iTunes compilation was released in March 2011 by Universal Music and features the 11 winning song entries alongside tracks by Canadian music legends Bruce Cockburn, Gordon Lightfoot, Sarah McLachlan and current/multiple Juno award winners LIGHTS and Johnny Reid.

In January 2011, another one of Glenn’s songs, called “Days of Loneliness,” attracted province-wide attention when it was short-listed for the book “Essex County” as part of the Canada Reads Soundtrack (CBC Radio1). Glenn's music was also singled out in April 2011,when he won a "Collective Works Award" through the International Song of the Year contest, for submissions that showed "consistency in songwriting excellence across various works."

"Sweet Happiness" is Glenn's second full-length project with award-winning producer David j Taylor. With stellar performances by Taylor (guitar, piano, vocals, percussion), Rebecca Lascue (vocals, percussion), Michael Paul (bass), Joyce Belcher (vocals, flute) and Cal Harle (drums), it offers 14 mesmerizing and wonderfully crafted songs about searching, and discovery.

Guitar Town

Great new album
Glenn has a great talent for songwriting and his latest album touches on several different genres with an honesty and intensity that shows his true craft. The album is written from the heart and Glenn's passion is evident on each track. It's easy to tell Glenn is infuenced by legendary songwriters like John Hiatt & Steve Earle and this is a great listen for fans of "story songs."

Miss Marilyn

Review by Miss Marilyn "In the Music Spotlight" on 91.3FM Regina Community Radio
Glenn Sutter offers a refreshing element to the music scene. His music reflects the respect in his heart for nature, good clean living, and pure loving. In interviews with Glenn, one will be hard-pressed to meet a more genuine, thoughtful, rich personality. Not one to hold back for the sake of political-correctness, his messages are courageous and ring with truth.
His album "Sweet Happiness" also tackles the flip-side of happiness, such as the songs "Poor Little Man", "Insane", "Days of Loneliness". We are reminded that ups-and-downs are natural cycles in a full, well-lived life. If we had more Glenn Sutters in our world, it would be a better place!
