ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band

For nearly 40 years, the GLIDE Ensemble and eight-piece Change Band have brought audiences to their feet with a powerful, unique and inspiring mix of spiritual, gospel, jazz, blues, pop and soul. Founded by Reverend Cecil Williams, and under the musical direction of John F. Turk Jr., the Ensemble performs every Sunday in the GLIDE Sanctuary. Their latest recording is of a live concert at the SFJAZZ Center in honor of GLIDE co-founders Reverend Cecil Williams and Janice Mirikitani’s 50th year serving the San Francisco community.

About GLIDE

Located at Ellis and Taylor in the Tenderloin, one of San Francisco's harshest urban environments, GLIDE is an oasis that has served the poor and disenfranchised for 45 years. From serving one million meals a year, to operating a professional medical clinic, to offering weekly spiritual celebrations at Glide Church, and much more – GLIDE touches the lives of many people. GLIDE has helped thousands people get back on their feet and find their way to jobs, housing and spiritual fulfillment. Learn more at www.glide.org.
