Album Notes
Gary is from Garland, Texas, where he played guitar in various bands starting at age fourteen. After pursuing a degree in music at North Texas State University, Gary made the move to Los Angeles, and began his recording career with two albums of his own songs. His band included current Warner Bros. Record's president Jim Ed Norman, on piano, who would later invite Gary to Nashville to write songs for his publishing company.

In 1983, Gary signed with Sony/ATV/Tree publishing and was a staff writer there for fifteen years. He has participated in songwriting trips to Romania, Bali, Ireland, and Cuba with other well known songwriters as part of Music Bridges, a cultural exchange with musicians of those countries. His songs have appeared in the movies "Urban Cowboy", "Major League", "City of Hope", "Message in a Bottle," "Happy Texas," "Sylvester," "Where the Heart Is" and "Serving Sara." He has earned twenty-six ASCAP awards as writer and publisher, and has taught songwriting workshops for ASCAP and Berklee School of Music. Been trying to get a copy for years, as good as I hoped it would be
I played with Gary 25 years ago in Dallas. I've known about the CD for a long time but never had a copy. It's great writing, playing and singing. Very soulful and with great personal insight and wit. More people need to know about Gary's Music!

There are no words to say how wonderful this talent is.
I have Gary Nicholson and Whitey Johnsons CDs...Since I purchase them at Love and War in Texas show...(and it was a show) I have not stopped playing them. Gary touches that place in all of us that loves the best of Music, no matter what genre. He is MOST excellent in person...but JUST as good ...on CD...just two different things completely. The crowd of texans were MORE than enthusiastic, the crowd was alive with his music. Not one foot was still and most were standing and dancing and applauding. IF you ever get a chance to see him, or buy his CDs run dont walk to do it. You will not be disappointed. Music as it was ment to be.

Gary Nicholson is in tune with his lyrics and his guitar is on fire.
Shadow of a doubt - opens a door you seldom see open and allows a peek into everyman's heart - its the sound heard after a door gently closes and leaving you wish you could have stayed longer. Gary Nicholson is a gifted writer and I wish I could write and play like that!

What I expected. Excellent. Nicholsonesque.
I saw and heard Gary for the first time on the Sandy Beaches IX Cruise. He is a kick-ass songwriter and guitar player. I bought the CD on the basis of his live performances and was not disappointed. He is even better live, though.

brilliant heartfelt lyrics, great voice and delivery
I saw Gary recently at Douglas Corners in Nashville during the Tin Pan South week. His performance there in a songwriters in the round format, conviniced me that not only are his songs great, he is great at performiing them. I especially love the song "The Trouble With The Truth" which is on this CD. I'm enjoying the CD almost as much as the live, unplugged version. Gary is a total kick-ass guitar player extrordinaire. So I am hoping for another CD, maybe this time unplugged so we can hear more of that sound, and I also am hoping it will include his song, "Memphis Women and Fried Chicken"! Thanks for the good music.

I knew he was talented back in our High School days but had no idea what an amazing writing ability he posssessed. I truly love this CD and cannot wait to see him perform live. Based on the other reviews on this CD, I can only imagine what an inspiring performance it will be!!

Awesome music The heart and soul is put into every word and sound
This cd was well composed with many other great song writers. It was put together with many different kinds of lyrics and well put into words where feeling was met.

A great CD from a great singer-songwriter
I knew Gary was a great songwriter but I had no idea what a great performer he was. I caught Gary in an old-fashioned Texas guitar pull with Lee Roy Parnell and Stephen Bruton. It was an amazing night and the CD keeps the memory alive and then some. Buy it, you won't be dissappointed!!

Shannon Rose

I can't tell you how much I love this CD. Gary ROCKS. Fabulous!!!

Gary Nicholson "The sky is not the limit" = good for your soul
Spent time with Gary in Durango, Colorado and saw his artistry up close. He is so soulful, and his lyrics are so well crafted, he is a must have for aspiring songwriters, guitarists, and music lovers in general.
