Since forming in 1992, the Godwin-Thompson Duo, an ensemble of extraordinary flexibility and musicianship, has concertized throughout the United States playing over 200 recitals. Their most recent recording entitled "Bello Bilancieto" (Beautiful Balance) is receiving positive reviews from the international press and praise from the guitar world. It features the debut of Clarice Assad's "Valsas do Rio" which was commissioned for the Godwin-Thompson Duo. The new recording also contains the debut of Byron Fogo's transcription of Bach's "Fantasia and Fugue" for two guitars. It includes some rarely recorded works by Torroba and guitarist John Williams' landmark arrangement of the "Theme and Varations" by Johannes Brahms. Highlights of past seasons include a recital in New York City at Carnegie Hall Studios for the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference as well as being the featured artist on the "Strings Attached" Concert Series. The Duo continues to delight audiences through their remarkable guitar artistry and innovative concert programs and recordings. In Nashville, Tennessee, as part of the Faculty Concert Series at Belmont University, the Duo gave the premiere performance of the "Valsas do Rio" composed and dedicated to them by Clarice Assad; and "Where All Love Ends" by Michael Slayton. An incredibly moving CD- a work of ART!
The entire CD is full of moving, artistic sounds, typical of this duo. The entire CD prooves the musical accomlishments of the Godwin-Thompson duo, as they unite their sounds harmoniously in one accord. GLORY!

Sue Godwin

The CD was great! Our Matt at church said, Awesome!
This CD is even better than your previous one. I particularly liked the first two pieces and the last two. My students loved the Spanish tunes.

Music for serious, casual and repeated listening
Guitar records, classical or otherwise, can often be very educational yet somehow clinical. Bello Bilancieto is VERY educational in the areas of material choice, interpretation of that material, sonic quality and the art of guitar dueting. The Godwin-Thompson Duo are, however, anything but clinical and this is a joyous slab of music played with enthusiasm and a smile. It is music for serious listening, casual listening and repeated listening. Chet would have loved this record.

This is a beautiful CD and so refreshing in that it's not often I hear a guitar duo. The music is so well executed. These are not easy pieces yet they make them sound effortless. I live in LA and listen to it while driving. It helps me not get so upset in traffic!
