Album Notes
The brilliant follow-up to "Hooks, Lines & Sinkers" is here! And we're quite chuffed to be able to proclaim it a Kool Kat release! It could very easily be titled "Hooks Vol. 2" as this Beatles-inspired gem's got everything that the previous one had and more! Solid songs, solid playing, lots of guitars, hooks, and harmonies - from start to finish! Oozing with total "Brit-ness", it sounds a lot like a more modern-sounding Red Button! "Goldberg sounds like he sprang from the halcyon power pop days of 1998 with tunes that are snappy, crisp, and clean, evoking the chirpier side of the style!" -

Andy Goldberg explains - "The Goldbergs are essentially a solo effort. Although it's my vehicle and my vision, there are certain key individuals who have contributed to "Radar" that deserve mention. An immense amount of credit goes to long time confidante and secret weapon, Paul Umbach. He is indispensable in translating the sounds in my head into a first-class finished product. From producing and engineering, to mixing the entire record, he ensures that it turns out exactly as envisioned. Additionally 8 of the 11 tracks feature New York session greats Rich Pagano (The Fab Faux) on drums and John Conte on bass." Recommended if you like The Fire Apes, The Red Button, The Raspberries, Jellyfish, Badfinger, The Rubinoos and all the other great, Beatles-inspired, classic power pop! - Ray Gianchetti (Kool Kat Musik)

Andy Goldberg is at it again and would you believe he can top the shining "Hooks, Lines & Sinkers"? I think with "Under the Radar," Andy joins the pantheon of great power pop singer-songwriters, artists like Michael Carpenter, Willey Wisely and Mike Viola. The Beatles-inspired opener "Please Won't You Please" will hook you for good, complete with the multi-tracked harmonic sweetness and Rickenbacker guitars. I am convinced Rich Pagano is really Ringo reincarnated (well, he is part of the Fab Faux). And this is no one-hit-wonder, as the next tune "Ain't Gonna Stop" is a lovely mid-tempo Badfinger meets The Red Button type song. The hooks pile on as well in "Feel The Sun" - and I dare you not to do handclaps to this one! Then "Water Blue" shuffles into a mellow place, like if Air Supply was fronted by The Hudson Brothers. All the tunes here are fantastic and that Hudson Brothers meets George Harrison vibe follows through the rest of the album. The next song, "Missing You" has a bit of Jeff Lynne, with those amazing chord changes that stick in your head all day. Andy could've easily over-produced any of these songs, but he doesn't and that's what separates the men from the boys here. Nothing weak here and the balance between vocal and instrumental professionalism is perfect. This is easily on my best of 2008 list. Don't miss it. It's a Kool Kat Musik release - so get it now. - Powerpopaholic (2/24/08)

The Best Thing You've Never Heard
Here is the best power pop album you've never heard. Andy Goldberg has a very real knack for the dreaded earworm syndrome. His talent is to create songs that are new yet familiar so there is a level of comfort from the first few notes throughout to the end. His 2006 effort Hooks, Lines & Sinkers introduced us to his feel good music and this one is no different. It's the kind of album that you want to put on during outdoor events and share with your friends. Under The Radar does have a few darker moments and some beautiful ballads. Andy is definitely channeling George Harrison in songs like "Water Blue" and "One More Time", but no where as much as the ukulele-driven "A Hand To Hold". Andy Goldberg has created another perfect social event album. Your party guests will thank you... or, at least, ask what is playing.

Under The Radar
The new Goldbergs cd is yet another fantastic
collection of amazing tunes. I heard "Feel The Sun"
on Underground Garage about three weeks ago and was blown away. What a great surprise to find out that the entire cd is just as good. So much for the old
"second Album curse"! Their first cd is every bit as
great so order both NOW!
