Album Notes
"The World is Somewhere Else" (2006) is Goldoolins' 3rd album, following "Goldoolins" (2004) and "Songs of the Turly Crio" (2005).

"Eclectic, tuneful rock with a largely acoustic root, though it's not at all predictable...this is far more interesting than much of what gets played on many radio programs that focus on contemporary singer/songwriter-oriented material with an acoustic flavor." (4 stars)
Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide

"The band evolved to a rather independent style of their own...Another great release, and a perfect listen. Recommended."
Gerald Van Waes, Psychedelic Folk Magazine, Belgium

"On this Record, the band have stretched their musical wings to produce a more complex, mature and thoughtful album...the band have composed a rich tapestry of songs, full of tight harmonies, flowing melodies and dazzling arrangements, giving the songs a timeless beauty."
Simon Lewis, Terrascope Magazine, UK

"This third release by the Israeli psych-folk trio is their most satisfying...they take many sonic risks here that show a maturity that may open new territory beyond their folk roots."
Mike Wood, Foxy Digitalis Magazine, USA

"The third release by Israel’s folk rock outfit is its most coherent one to date...The World is Somewhere Else is less accessible than the band’s previous albums, but also all the more rewarding for the listener."
Avi Shaked, Maelstrom Magazine, USA

"An amazingly talented band who have a prolific musical output but no signs of running out of impressive creative ideas. Definitely recommended."
Kim Harten, Bliss Aquamarine, UK

A charm bracelet: The Incredible String Band, Fit & Limo, Feathers, Goldoolins
First, let me say that I've always been a fan of The Incredible String Band and am always on the lookout for new bands that embrace and carry on their wonderful fantastic vision. A few years back, a band came along that renewed the tradition of a wide array of world instruments played in unique combinations, in unique ways: that was a German duo called Fit & Limo. A couple of years ago, another band came along which got me excited about this brand of acid folk/psychedelia all over again. That was Feathers. I've been waiting too long for new releases by Fit & Limo and Feathers, when along comes Goldoolins' The World Is Somewhere. The gap is expanding, and they have filled it. What joy and pleasure, excitement abounds in listening to this wonderful disc over and over again. I can't find the words to express my wonder and profound thanks for this release. Perhaps when I find my articulate tongue, I will write a more descriptive review. In the meantime, if any of the bands I've mentioned appeal to you, give Goldoolins a shot, and if not, listen to the samples from this album and you'll be won over. I can't wait for their next release.
