ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Golnar & Mahan is an internationally active trio composed of two Iranians and one Austrian. They are songwriters who specialize in blending jazz with oriental folk elements, odd meter polyrhythms, Afro-Cuban music, etc. In this album, they have created a new way of story telling in which the lyrics, mostly in fairs, and the compositions go hand in hand. Their philosophy is to build bridges between the different musical cultures and create a unique sound of their own. In "Derakht" (meaning tree in Farsi), one can trace their musical origin together with an openness to other traditions as well as courage to experiment. Multi-instrumental, multi-lingual and multi-cultural, Golnar & Mahan is the definition of a real cosmopolitan band.
