ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Soul-A-Mente is a California music duo with Goodshield Aguilar (Lakota/Yaqui) and Mignon Geli (Waray/Ilongo/Spanish/Mayan) offering a variety of original songs, spoken word and consciousness from an Indigenous perspective. They combine native traditional to contemporary music ranging from soul, rock, Latin, folk, funk, blues, jazz, reggae and hip hop with guitar, banjo, native style wood flutes, traditional drums, rattles, vocals and native chants.

This album was a collaboration that began after they met at a Buffalo Field Campaign roadshow in Sacramento, October of 2009. Goodshield shared his music and then Mignon shared her flute music and asked Goodshield to accompany her on the big Drum. About a year later they started playing music together and were encouraged by many friends to produce a music album which eventually resulted in a demo album in 2011 and later this final album in 2014.

Please join us during our Fall 2018 west coast Roadshow with the Buffalo Field Campaign led by co-Founder Mike Mease. We will be spreading the word to "save the herd," the last wild, genetically pure buffalo in Yellowstone Park. Please visit the website at www.buffalofieldcampaign.org or view our 2018 schedule at: http://www.buffalofieldcampaign.org/get-involved/volunteer-with-us/road-show. Many thanks for your support of the buffalo and native musicians!
