Album Notes
Gordon Maxwell

Raised in Saskatchewan, Gordon Maxwell started singing at the age of six and has been singing ever since. He graduated from The University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Music Performance in voice-opera. After graduation, Gordon turned his talents to country music as a singer and part of the signature sound of the Juno-nominated band, One Horse Blue. He was co-writer of “Hopeless Love”, a Number 1 Canadian Country hit for the group.

Since moving to the West Coast in the 80’s, Gordon continues to be sought after as a studio singer. His voice has become a staple on Canadian country radio where he is heard as a lead and vocal harmony singer on a daily basis. Gordon writes and records with his own singer-songwriter group called The Gords. In addition, he has been working with Ian Tyson for the past 20 years recording and touring in Tyson’s concert trio as bassist and harmony singer. Gordon tours as a member of the legendary rock band Chilliwack as bass player and singer.

As a partner in Pure Pacific Music for Young Learners, Gordon works with Laurie Thain writing and producing educational music for young learners. The team has written for Oxford University Press, New York, as well as publishers in Asia.
In addition, Maxwell & Thain wrote and released “I Am Canadian” in 2017, a song for Canada’s 150th birthday

In recording, “At Christmas We Sing”, Gordon revisits an earlier chapter in his career when he wrote and shared this song with One Horse Blue. “At Christmas We Sing” was originally recorded by the band, One Horse Blue, but here Maxwell polishes up this musical gem giving us the chance to experience the song sung by the original writer.
