ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"His (style) is so rural, he could package it in a Feed Bag!"
[Jeff Spevak, of Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Newspaper - May 2004]
Gordon had the honor to open for Doc Watson way back in 1984 & 1985. For years, Doc Watson had been a huge influence, on Gordon's blossoming guitar style. Having a full time job to support his large family, he would wear down LPs late at night, studying music styles, of the early folk and blues pioneers. That included regional Americana styles from folks like: Woody Guthrie & Blind Lemon Jefferson (Dust bowl region), Son House and Robert Johnson (Delta); Brownie McGhee and Doc Watson (Piedmont styles). While honing his guitar skills, Munding also began writing his own songs. He won 1st place in Rochester N.Y's first "Stan Rogers Song Writing Competition" back in 1985, and his music has been featured on Radio stations in Rochester, Jamestown, and Ithaca NY.
Gordon has continued writing, performing and opening for other big names in his field like John Hammond Jr, Guy Davis, and Rory Block.
River's Risin' is a collection of original songs seeped in roots guitar flavors Gordon has been brewing over the years.
One happy customer of River's Risin' wrote:
"Gordon--Just got your new CD, love it! It felt like Pete Seeger, Muddy Waters and Bob Dylan got into a bottle of something good, and had a little jam session." [R.D.Sperling W. Henrietta, N.Y - Aug 2017]
