by Grace Kinter

Selfish captures the unavoidable frustration of millennial hookup culture; with it's dark, dreamlike production and sassy, honest lyrics, Grace Kinter toys with the temptations of being lonely on her own terms instead of being lonely with someone else.

Album Notes
Selfish is the third track in Grace Kinter's Debut EP, hate/love songs. As the middle song and the mid-point in her journey to defining her own twisted version of self love, Selfish conveys the unavoidable frustration of the millennial hookup culture. The song itself has a dark, dreamlike production style and alludes to loneliness in more ways than one. Ambient and distant guitar shreds in the background over her honest, sassy reflections of unsatisfying one night stands, unnecessary games, and being tired of asking for nothing and receiving less. The song has a interlude and outro that practically interrupts the rest of the song; it's the climax and the realization of Kinter's done-ness with all of it; she's finally admitting the sheer disappointment and committing to finding her own satisfaction elsewhere.
