Album Notes
Gracie Day is 2017’s “Best New Act” according to the New England Music Awards, an organization that acknowledges musical artists across all six states. Based in Hartford, and recently named “Best Folk Band” in CT Now’s Best of Hartford Reader’s Poll for 2017, Gracie Day is gaining a reputation for her authentic performances and heartfelt storytelling which is highlighted by a melodic sensibility and dynamic sound.

"In 'I Don’t Want Whiskey,' a slight warble to Gracie’s voice and prominent slide guitar give off a good ol’ Opry-ready vibe. Through a full-band production with a rich, radio-friendly sound, the instrumentation is relatively sparse, focusing listeners more specifically on Gracie’s voice. Drums and strings drive a mid-to-late-song bridge that serves as a bit of a musical crescendo, but overall the voice-focused recording brings out the emotion of every voice-crack and lilt in Gracie’s voice. With 'I Don’t Want Whiskey' serving as an advance introduction to Gracie’s forthcoming EP, it will be interesting to hear what else she has in store for us."

-Geoff Wilbur's Music Blog

After a few evolutions, Gracie has come up with a fantastic line-up for her band including Lee Sylvestre on guitar and vocals, Jeff Belcher on bass and vocals and Nick Dickinson on drums. The core four have brought to life Gracie’s songwriting on her debut with other special guests all-stars from Connecticut including Craig Struble of Bronze Radio Return, Ben Dean of The Caravan of Thieves, Mike Oehmen of Dopapod, Ed Iarusso of the Kerri Power’s band, and many more. The album was recorded at the venerable CT-based Telefunken Elecktroakustik. Now that Gracie Day is on the map, she will be furthering her reaches beyond Connecticut and New England as she spreads her sound to a growing fan base.
