Album Notes
Born in New Orleans in July 1957, GrayHawk Perkins has been a locale and favorite musician since the age of 12. As a Native American (Choctaw & Houma Nations), GrayHawk’s command of the Mobilian language, songwriting skills, and strong backbeat percussion playing has driven the bands of Aaron Neville, Coco Robicheaux, and Dr. John to name a few. Worth the Wait, is born out of GrayHawk’s solo vocal and percussion project, Thirteen Moons. GrayHawk’s vocal and percussive mastery lends itself well to the fusion of blues, funk, and a touch of rock-n-roll offered by his bandmates.

Peter P. Jones is bassist with over thirty years of experience. Peter has performed with Ghanaian Highlife musician, Oscar Sulley, organist, Russell Cheatham of Sorghum, and the University of Illinois at Urbana Jazz Band. A Chicago born musician, Peter has played everything from West Africa music to the Mikado. Peter describes his bass playing as “staying in the moment while letting the music breathe!” He absolutely loves instruments inspired by Leo Fender’s Jazz and Precision basses.

Phil Diano has been a musician all of his life. He plays various woodwinds from alto to bass saxophone. Phil believes, “Music heals and transforms all...The union of the GrayHawk Band will excite people and let them know that real musicians can still move a crowd!”

Mark St. James is the guitarist for the band. He has performed with many notable Southeast Louisiana musicians from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival to the Frenchmen Street corridor in the French Quarter. Mark brings an eye-for-details and musical chops to back it up. Mark believes, “because we play real instruments without effects or gimmicks getting in the way of our music. THIS BAND ROCKS!”
