Album Notes
Kathleen Johnson has a rich, strong, soulful, sultry, powerful gut wrenching vocal range and variety of stylings that compare to MAHALIA JACKSON, SARAH VAUGHN, WHITNEY HOUSTON, ARETHA FRANKLIN and yes ETTA JAMES. Although she has quite an extensive vocal stretch, range and power in her falsetto soprano voice, she is most comfortable as a deep down contralto. The beauty of her voice will give you chills and raise the hair off the back of your neck.

Kathleen Johnson is a vocalist of “The Original BKS”, founder of MUSICIANS4MUSICIANS LLP, and co- founder of “Raisingthebar, an Artist’s loft” a workshop for up and coming new talented artists where she mentors many vocalists who go on to leading their own projects. Kathleen has worked as a studio artist at Paisley park and a studio artist for many regional and National jingles. She was a PAISLEY PARK STUDIO ARTIST on many recordings with RICKY PETERSON and KIRK JOHNSON at the sound board from NEW YORK to LA. She has toured Internationally as a supporting vocalist for CARMEN ELECTRA who was the opening act for "PRINCE and NPG DIAMONDS and PEARLS tour". She was a studio artist for PAISLEY PARK and a backing vocalist Live and in the studio for Billy McLaughlin, Alexander O'Neal, Jeff Arundel, Paul Peterson, Keri Noble. Sam Moore, Tevin Campbell, Billy Holloman, Jordin Sparks, and more.

Kathleen has worked side by side with LIVE on stage with some of the Twin Cities most hard working, talented and sought after artists such as, Paul Peterson, Cynthia Johnson, Javeeta Steele, Debbie Duncan, Gwen Matthews, Shayde, Germain Brooks, Rhonda Johnson, Paris and Jamecia Bennet, Patty Peterson, Ray Covington, Ginger & Ashley Commodore, Michelle Carter, Maurice Jacox, Kevin Jackson, Jay Bee, Johnnie Brown and many more! She has fronted many local bands and projects such as KIRK JOHNSON'S "TKO"(House band for Prince's GLAM SLAM), The Combo, BKS, The Soul Tight Committee, The TC Jammers, The Maxx Band, The Combo, The Not Guilty Band The R Factor, and Synergy to name a few. She has performed at countless Twin Cities music venues, special events, and generously contributes her message via her mentorship and workshop “Raisingthebar an Artist’s loft” with strong roots in the world famous Anellia's night club creating many productions which are offered to numerous fundraisers and philanthropic events locally, nationally, and internationally on the stages of the most respected cabarets, clubs, and concert halls.
