Album Notes
The Greenroom sound is influenced by a close-knit family of styles. Classic soul and disco flavours meet contemporary hip-hop, dub, live house and drum n bass. The hybrid is part design, part flow…With years of experience playing together, Greenroom sweats original funk. To Cpt. Colin Brumelle, the crybaby wah is not an effect pedal. It is the foot-operated part of his guitar.

Unlike many a band with the word Jazz in their byline, Greenroom embraces their role as entertainers first and foremost. They relish the acclaim they get from totally engaging and interacting with an audience. The band's stage presence is huge, the applause downright excessive. And though the sextet's collaborative improvisations are frequently divine…they sound best in response to a seething dancefloor. Call it groove supervision

"To Greenroom, excellent musicianship and inspired ensemble playing are assets. The show is everything. This is dance music".

Greenroom sets are structured by an arsenal of "dance weapons", horn lines, and tight catchy tunes. Once the house is on the dancefloor and under the groove, the band settles down to plenty of fluid improvisation, ad lib audience interaction, and expressive solo work-punctuated with vocal choruses, polished segues and stunts. The grooves coast through "lowdown funky", purr in the mid-range, and sit comfortably uptempo.
