Album Notes
After 25+ years Australian composer, musician, producer Greg Englert decided to go right back to the very first songs he composed for jazz band albums. Leafing through old manuscripts he remembered how he had originally written these songs as Ragtime tunes and Tangos but they were originally recorded as band instrumentals on previous albums. So here they are in the original form that Greg wrote them all those years ago. Dedicated to Australian Jazz Ragtime Legend Dave Dallwitz who Greg played lead trumpet for a few years. Dave Dallwitz wrote many original rags and greatly influenced Greg when he first started composing. Echoes of Scott Joplin and at times the 'spanish tinge' of Jelly Roll Morton and of course the great music from the movie 'The Sting'.
