Stick Figures

The Desert Island Chapman Stick CD
There are many CDs out there that offer you a taste of what the Stick sounds like. There are fewer that offer both that taste as well as a collection of beautifully crafted songs that stand up regardless of the instrument that made them.

Inevitably, when someone new to the Stick asks what records they should buy in order to get a better idea of what the instrument is capable of, the first one out of everybody's mouth is "Stick Figures." The reason for that is two fold. First, it is a completely solo Stick CD. The tracks were recorded as solo performances with no overdubs and just a touch of some reverb. Second is that beautifully crafted songs argument again.

From the lyrical opener "Morning Song", through the popular and Guaraldi-esque "Charmed Life", right on until the rolling "Blue Ridge" wrapup, "Stick Figures" is fun, charming, catchy, and wonderful all in one cohesive package. But most importantly, it's all of those things regardless of whether or not your interested in the instrument it came from.
