ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In addition to having fun working as a Voice Actor, I have also been truly blessed to be a singer/songwriter for more than 40 years. And now, with a renewed spirit, an even deeper faith and a very happy heart, it is my sincere pleasure to finally share ‘Cause We’re Americans with the world, along with the full story behind it.

It was 2004 and the United States military was deeply entrenched in active battles against ferocious enemy elements in Iraq. Regardless of one’s political affiliations or belief as to why our troops were on the baked and barren battlefields of Iraq, the fact of the matter was that they were there and I was compelled to write about it.

While attending a Saturday evening dinner party in the spring of 2004, the conversation was all about our military’s involvement in Iraq. There were indeed mixed emotions and many different layers of support, but one gentleman in particular, loudly stated that he couldn’t care less about the innocent people of Iraq being brutalized and killed. He said, “Why should we care?” To which I replied, “Because, we’re Americans and that’s what we do.”

Well, Monday morning came along and I could not get those words out of my head, so with the melody and timing vividly clear to me, I sat down and wrote the song. I then had the distinct pleasure of collaborating on music and arrangement ideas with my good friend, singer/songwriter, Chris Kibbe. Chris offered his time, guidance, talents, friendship & support throughout the process and it meant the world to me.

He then connected me with Milton Smith of Fayetteville, NC. Milton is an incredible talent and a highly sought after musician, arranger and composer. We discussed my ideas and vision of what I wanted the song to become and Milton created a full blown orchestration that was beyond my wildest imagination.

It was now time for me to record the song, so I turned to my friend and colleague, Award Winning Recording Engineer and Producer, John Arrias. John recorded, mixed and mastered the song, creating pure magic in the process. To Chris, Milton and John, I give you my never-ending thanks!

Over the coming months, I was thrilled to perform the song at numerous events throughout New England, NY, NJ & PA.

The song was presented to several members of the U.S. Congress and on my behalf; Congresswoman Nancy Johnson delivered a letter I wrote along with a CD copy of the song to President George W. Bush. I received a gracious thank you letter from the President along with a signed picture. The song was also featured on American Forces Radio and various other outlets.

So now, 2017 comes along and I knew that I wanted to create a video. Under no circumstances did I want it to be about me. I wanted it to be all about the song and its message of hope and solidarity. To that end, I am forever grateful to my friend and colleague, Paul Frederick of Paul Frederick Productions for bringing the music video to life. I am also forever grateful to my friends and colleagues, Albert Petrunti, Jordan LeMere and Steven Silvester at The New Day Group for shooting my on-camera segment, which really wrapped it all up perfectly. Paul, Al, Jordan & Steve, you guys ROCK!

When I wrote ‘Cause We’re Americans, I wanted to pay tribute to our amazing nation and all of the people that make up its rich and colorful tapestry of life.

I also wanted to offer praise and to show immense gratitude to all the men & women serving in our military around the world, past & present. I wanted each of them to know just how grateful we are for the incredible sacrifices they and their families make on a daily basis, so that the rest of us can be safe from harm and remain free. As far as I’m concerned, these true heroes in uniform will never hear “Thank you” enough!

Sadly, there is far too much divisiveness in our country today and I believe that this song can literally bring Americans together again and I sincerely hope & pray that it does.

I am a very proud American and with all my heart & soul, my dream is to share this message of patriotic pride with everyone I can and I hope that you’ll help me. Thank you and May God Bless the United States of America and all who love & respect her.

Sláinte!

Here are the lyrics to ‘Cause We’re Americans: 

The bells toll at 0330 and you race to make the call
Soldiers sittin’ side by side as the trucks begin to roll
There’s not much for you to speak about, ‘cause deep inside you know
It might be your last journey ‘til the day they bring you home

No matter where you are and no matter how long it takes
We will always…bring you home

But the mission’s clear and your mind is right as the team reacts as one
And you’re all proud to serve this land with each new risin’ sun
And heroes will stand together, inspiration to us all
‘Cause America’s the greatest land and freedom will never fall

When you ask us to extend a hand
We’ll reach and raise you up
We’ll help you through the worst of times
At our best when things are tough
There will be those who question why we do all that we do
‘Cause We’re Americans and that’s what we do

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you might believe
‘Cause you’re free to think the way you do, you can stay or you can leave
But if you stay, embrace this land and treasure all she gives
‘Cause we’re grateful for our freedom…it’s the only way to live

When you ask us to extend a hand
We’ll reach and raise you up
We’ll help you through the worst of times
At our best when things are tough
There will be those who question why we do all that we do
‘Cause We’re Americans and that’s what we do

Now, there are those who say we meddle with affairs in distant lands
But we mustn’t ever turn our backs, we hope you understand
That the right to freedom is guaranteed and it must remain the truth
So, join us as we proudly stand and wave Red, White & Blue

When you ask us to extend a hand
We’ll reach and raise you up
We’ll help you through the worst of times
At our best when things are tough
There will be those who question why we do all that we do
‘Cause We’re Americans and that’s what we do

…there will be those who question why we do all that we do
‘Cause We’re Americans…that’s what we do
