ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

The 'BABY' has arrived!! :)
If there is one word to describe Gregory Nash,it's versatile.Bouncing from drum seats in soul, blues, funk, jazz, metal, country and,of course rock,Nash proficiently performs whatever the situation calls for and plays for the song. This is something he feels "cannot really be taught or imparted, but must be learned through time and experience" Having recorded and performed with so many different genres of bands,Ten Year Vamp,Sirsy,Addicted To Pain,Blue Jeanne Blue,Soul Session,Joe Lowry's 2nd Mile Blues Band, and countless others has given him the opportunity to share the bill with many of his influences and some of the best in the biz...Aerosmith,Cheap Trick,Maroon 5,Katy Perry,Bon Jovi,Blues Traveler,Overkill and Junior Walker,to name just a few. After years of supplying the back beat for dozens of bands and solo artist's recordings, many of which received high critical acclaim and praise and have been featured in Television shows on networks, such as MTV,SHOWTIME,MLB, and ABC Family....as well as ROCKBAND,the game and A-BAND from XBOX(a game in which the player assumes the drummer's spot in the band)..2013 finally sees Nash releasing his first solo effort,a 9 track original album entitled 'BABY'.It is a labor of love that showcases his wide range of musical tastes and influences and demonstrates his unique playing style and songwriting abilities. In a recent interview he quips "it was nice to not be sent home after the drum-tracks were laid down, for a change, and a daunting yet satisfying challenge to be involved in every aspect of the process as well as giving direction and not just taking it". With a June 4th release date,Nash plans on showcasing the album in live situations as well as wearing the many hats he has grown accustomed to fulfilling his regular roller coaster of a gig calendar.Be sure to catch him live and hear the new tracks and grab a copy or purchase them via I-tunes,Amazon,CD Baby ect.."there is something for everyone on this recording"says Nash with a confident grin. A finalist in Guitar Centers drum off 2 years in a row,and a highly sought after session and live drummer,Nash also gives private lessons and hosts a weekly open mic night in his home town when not on the road. "I've been a freelance drummer for a while now and play in a variety of different bands.I've worked with some extremely talented people over the years and have played on some great (and not so great) recordings. All this time I've taken direction well, tried to please the bandleader as best I could and played ,relentlessly, with my whole heart and soul. Some of these projects were more fun and inspiring than others and recent ones have brought out the best in my playing, but none were truly my own, even when I was part of an original band and the 2nd half of the writing team,I still felt I had to compromise and make sure everyone was happy with the result.Incidentally, there was one occasion when (after doing weeks of pre-production)the bandleader decided 30 secs before I recorded my parts that he/she didn't want any flams on the record!!!.( anyone who is a drummer out there can tell you that the flam is just as important to a drummer as a pick is to a guitarist)...but,I bit my tongue and soldiered through, knowing full well that I wouldn't even bother listening to the finished product. All this time I kind of fantasized about making MY OWN record, where I could try to get out EXACTLY what I hear in my head, and exercise some control and utilize the experience I've been blessed to have playing with so many amazing talents.Having good relationships on and off the stage is important to me and I'm still tight with most of my old band mates,so I am calling in favors from every genre to play on the record. The allure of the record ,and frankly ,the point of the record is to show my versatility as a player, kind of an enhanced business card,if you will. There are 7 different styles of songs followed by a 3 movement drum solo.Huge thanks go out to my partner and producer,Dave Rockower, without whom,'BABY' would not exist. Also, all my love and endless gratitude goes out to the amazing musicians who were kind and gracious enough to participate.I am truly blessed and I hope everybody likes the finished product
