Album Notes
Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media let you go back in time to read things you posted in the past. It's a new form of diary where you've recorded some of the day to day events of your life over the course of years.

Back when Greg Piper was a struggling musician playing in cover bands (Rise, Masquerade, Calmrads, The Street Kids) to pay the rent and in his original bands (The Pipers, Womanizer, The Realm), to try and make it big, he lived with his longtime girlfriend, Jacki. Eventually she wanted marriage but he was too busy chasing his rock and roll dream to take on the responsibility of a wife and family so the two of them broke up and Greg moved into a small, one room apartment. Alone, heartbroken, not being someone who kept a diary and having no one to talk to, he wrote what he was going through in song. He recorded these songs into a little tape recorder so it was like having someone expressing his feelings back to him. He didn't feel so alone and he got his feelings out.

Several years later after he achieved enough success that he felt he could take on the responsibility, he reconnected with his former love, got married and had two beautiful daughters. Now, after thirty years of marriage and touring, he's dug up those old tapes and was shocked at how well they told the story of his romance and breakup. He's now rerecorded those songs in the chronological order in which they were first written and realized that this new 10 song CD, BORN TO YOU, is his version of a Facebook page or a very personal mix tape. It's a beautiful and sincere recounting of a joyful and painful time period in a life that ultimately had a very happy ending. Thus far.

The songs:

"Born To You" - Written originally by his long time girlfriend, Jacki, it is about her seeing a band flyer for Greg's band RISE and developing a huge crush on him. She sought out the band at a party and seduced Greg (not difficult).

"Take Me To Heaven" - Written originally by Jacki (Greg added parts and arranged all the tunes Jacki wrote and is co-writer), it is the invitation (the pick up line) that starts the relationship.

"When I Fall For You" - Written by Greg, this is Greg pondering what it might be like to fall in love with Jacki.

"True Love" - Written by Greg about the beginning of the affair turning into a relationship.

"Corners Of Our Hearts" - Originally written by Jacki, it is Jacki and Greg telling each other they love each other.

"Call On Me" - Written by Greg, it is when someone starts to rationalize his feelings and lets his brain supersede his heart. He had just joined a new band (Womanizer) and had doubts about being tied down.

"Do You Love Me" - Written by Greg. His doubt about his own level of commitment gets transferred onto her which makes him insecure.

"Don’t Know Why" - Written by Greg. He’s trying to explain that even he doesn’t understand why he’s become destructive to the relationship (he wants out, that’s why).

"Through My Closed Eyes" - Written by Greg. Unable to accept responsibility his conscience tries to force the blame of the break up onto Jacki.

"She’s Not In Love With Me Anymore" - Written by Greg. Once it’s over and he feels that Jacki has moved on, he regrets having left.
