Album Notes

Storyteller Greg Weiss' adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol deserves to be handed down with other family Christmas treasures. Mr. Weiss' brilliant voice characterizations propel the story without a hitch, an amazing feat in itself. The experience is deepened by a profoundly moving solo viola playing traditional carols in all the right places. It is a gift to be reminded why a classic is a classic.
Elizabeth Ellis, Storyteller

Imagine opening the book, “A Christmas Carol,” and voices rise from the page—some snarling and subtle with sarcasm, others innocent and joyful, with hunched-over laughter and booming proclamations. Greg Weiss re-introduces this oft-told tale with theatrical liveliness, gesturing to the balcony and luring us lucky listeners to new visions of our own lives. My grandkids, lovers of “Hamilton,” will see Dickens as new and here to stay! Let us taste the Christmas pudding and humbly enjoy one of the best audio recordings I have ever heard.
Tim Tingle, Storyteller & Author

The Ghost of Christmas is definitely present on Greg's Dickens CD. Wonderful!
Bil Lepp, Storyteller

Weiss’ love for this cherished classic infuses his telling, creating a tender, shared experience, as much inspiration as instruction…and a timely and timeless message about redemption.
Dovie Thomason, Storyteller

A most delightful retelling of the Dickens masterpiece! Greg’s performance is reminiscent of Jim Dale’s reading of the J.K. Rowling novels! The character voices are distinctive from his resonant narrator’s voice. The viola and piano interludes are a perfect bridge to the tracks.
A Yuletide tour de force!
Bobby Norfolk, Storyteller/Performer

Greg has been telling this beautiful story at our pub for over ten years and it has become a warmly anticipated holiday tradition for many. The characters are generously portrayed by his rich voice, the humor is sharp and gentle at the same time, and an atmosphere of kindness, peace and joy is created. Greg brings these good spirits to live in the room with us by bringing his own good spirit to the telling of this timeless tale. We all feel fortunate to have heard Greg's version of 'A Christmas Carol' and so look forward to the next time.

A Christmas Carol
No book better evokes the spirit of Christmas than Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol, and no one better brings to life this redemptive tale, than Greg Weiss. His dramatic and pitch-perfect character voices render the world of spirits, misers, and ghosts so richly in our imaginations that we stroll effortlessly with them through the streets of Victorian England. A tour de force!
