ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Daniel Grindstaff is a musician from East Tennessee specializing in the banjo. He has traveled all over the United States and Canada with the best in bluegrass and acoustic music. His style has been heard from stages that include the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival in Washington, DC, and national televisions Fox and Friends in New York City. His professional carreer began in 2001 with blugrass legends and Grand Ole Opry members Jim and Jesse McReynolds. Daniel has also toured with such artists as CMA award winner Larry Cordel, the ledgendary Osborne Brothers, and spent several years touring and recording with Grammy Award winning vocalist Marty Raybon. On his album "Aprils Fool", Daniel proves to be a stylist that is grounded in tradition. The songs and featured instrumentals range from traditional favorites, western swing, gospel, through new contempary sounds featuring a variety of acoustic instruments.

Aprils Fool includes the following guest artists: Grand Ole Opry members Jesse McReynolds, Sonny Osborne, and Bobby Osborne. Ace Nashville bass player Kent "Superman" Blanton, award winning mandolin player Adam Steffy, and ledgendary fiddlers Buddy Spicher and Steve Thomas.

"This solo project will attest to his ability with the banjo. He has made himself into a fine player. He has all the basic "licks" plus some originality, and he learns very quickly. When combined, these ingredients will create a style..one which you, the listener and player, will recognize as soon as he begins playing". ~Sonny Osborne 9-16-2006

"Among our finest young banjoists, East Tennessess's Daniel Grindstaff, looks to the past for his inspiration, but brings personality and a fresh approach to bluegrass. He's Popping the strings one moment, coaxing out an emotive turn the next. With cracking guest vocals, Grindstaff demonstrates that he's a player of determination and character. "Aprils Fool" artfully captures his vision of bluegrass". ~Bluegrass Now- November 2007

Salyersville Suite

I Irish jigged and zig-zagged all night long..
Gloryland is award winning. Fiddler's timing is genius, add more whining solos with 6 finger picking. Contact me when you record I'll Fly Away, Unclouded Day, Turn Your Radio On, etc.
