ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Groovski is a band of Polish (and Polish-American) musicians who play garage/punk/new wave/pop noise, very creatively and very intensely. Their influences are mostly Polish and Eastern European new wave and punk bands.

"This album is pure rock 'n roll in its simplest form...It is the raw energy of this band that is undeniably captivating...they are not much like the string of retro hipster pop bands like such as The Strokes, The Hives, or the White Stripes other than their dirty distorted garage rock sound. Groovski is a much more authentic alternative to the contrived nature of today's pop music, with their honest fury of noisy new wave power."
- Northeast Performer Magazine

"Truly an amazing and revolutionary thing...doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard"
- Chris Buskey, New Haven Advocate

"Brilliance"
- Maximum Rock N Roll Magazine

"TOP TEN!"
- Scott Sewart (Pazz & Jop), Don Allred (Village Voice), Al Muzer (Aquarian)

"[G]orgeously searing...something cool and strange...a very original concept...[e]arly 80's English-style new wave of the Joy Division/New Order brand topped with mostly Polish lyrics...with a healthier helping of fury...They're worth it."
- Paul Ferrell, Hamden Chronicle

"Tightly wound sounds that hearken back to the Britpunk of the mid-to-late 70's...crisp...energetic...almost violent directness"
- Chris Lough, Music Notes

"With unchecked insanity and soaring abandon, this Polish and Polish-American gel of 'mad mutant mod-punk' delivers a searing mix of distortion and bite so thoroughly exhilarating and phrenetic, with an unabashed fixation for new wave buoyancy (spazz) that you'll find yourself caught between the love of the glitter and the mania. In other words, don't miss it."
- CDBaby

"A heady, intoxicating, finger-pointing freak show of chaotic sounds, churning guitars, wildly diverse musical influences and minimalist beat poetry crashing together in one gloriously bouncy sonic spew of incomprehensible (in Polish or English) lyrics and punked-out, over-the-top new wave beats. Borrowing from the likes of Iggy, X, X-Ray Specs, early-XTC, Nena, Joy Division, Mission of Burma, King Missile, the B52's, the Vapors, Siouxsie Sioux, the Fathoms, Flipper and Falco, new surprises are uncovered with each successive spin of a disc that's quick to become a favorite."
- Al Muzer, The Acquarian

"Should never be taken for granted...a bunch of punkish Poles reverberating their distaste for the latest fashions and harking back to the simpler world of early European new-wavers... [a] hard-hitting and far-reaching album"
- Christopher Arnott, New Haven Advocate

"Enter the lopsided world of Groovski. Things here are very strangeski. But extremely goodski. Hurrayski! Mad, mutant New Wave pop is savedski!"
- Oxford Music Press

Groovski: Insanity + Rock = Perfection
How do they do it? Groovski amazes the world with a mad, fantastic album. The sound is addictive, strange and new, something you've never heard before. Yet it sounds just right. The band plays tight, uptempo, riff-driven songs, with loads of control and COOL. But there's a suggestion of insanity in the lyrics and the delivery. What is it? Why do Groovski sound totally mad? Well, because they play music in a fresh way, foreign to our jaded ears. It's nothing you've ever heard before. It's energy - it's Polish - it's Groovski!

This disk is tight! And the lyrics sneak up on you - this isn't just mindless music, a couple of these tracks make a point too.

For starters, the band name "Groovski" is no coincidence. With unchecked insanity and soaring abandon, this Polish and Polish-American gel of "mad mutant mod-punk" delivers a searing mix of distortion and bite so thoroughly exhilarating and phrenetic, with an unabashed fixation for new wave buoyancy (spazz) that you'll find yourself caught between the love of the glitter and the mania. In other words, don't miss it.

Revolutionary!
This revolutionary troop blends rock, punk, melodic pop, new wave and funk to assemble a unique twelve-track collection. In addition to an exclusive vibe their lyrics are about forty percent Polish and sixty percent English. Yet the energy and emotion of this quartet is apparent in any language. Adam Malec is the lead vocalist and provides the "booming reverberating" bass that is central to Groovski's sound. The CD opens with 'Groovski vs. Godzilla' with its catchy guitar chords, a driving beat and male/female vocal mixes. Monstrously good. It is followed by 'Glupi Stamos' with its captivating instrumentation, thumping beats and plenty of raw energy. 'Zbiornick' is another track with intriguing instrumentation that grabs the listener's attention. The different musical influences and tones that Groovski combines makes for a entertaining and rocking selection of songs. Groovski knows how to groove!

Efficiently milk two cows at once?
Been listening to this non-stop since I got it and have yet to get tired of it. Nice slightly dirty twin guitars that mesh nicely, and the drumming is rock solid and danceable. This is a great performance and I hope this band keeps doing what it is doing. I wouldn't change a thing. I like Propensity to Consume the best.

WOWski!
Great live show. Cool vintage instruments. Don't miss them when they come to a town near you! A little Pixies, Joy Division & Amsterdam's The X.... with a bit of surf thrown in. I love this band so much I bought extra cds to give away. This cd has been in my car for a month. Get it... or regret it.
