Grubbs & Imes are Cary Grubbs and Carl Imes from Griffin, Georgia.

Since high school they have been writing, recording and performing an eclectic blend of acoustic music drawn from gospel, blues, bluegrass, and folk/pop genres.

In performance listeners hear Cary on guitar and slide guitar and Carl on guitar and mandolin and smooth, sometimes a capella, harmonies.

The duo's most ambitious recording project is SONG EVANGEL, a collection of old hymns and original songs, named for an old baptist song book which appeared in the early 1900's.

The CD was produced by Cary and Carl and Barry Piacente and features Cary on acoustic, electric, & slide guitars, drums & percussion and vocals, and Carl on acoustic guitars, mandolin and vocals.

MELODIC, HARMONIC, MEMORABLE, AND ENGAGING
I AM AWAITING THE BACK-ORDERED CD, BUT THE FIRST 4 SONGS , ESPECIALLY YESTERDAY WAS CHRISTMAS, TOOK ME ON A SOULFUL JOURNEY BACK TO THE 1970'S WHEN I KNEW THESE TALENTED, SPECIAL MEN. IT HAS BEEN 30+ YEARS SINCE I HAVE HEARD THEIR VOICES, YET I STILL FEEL AS IF I WAS RIGHT THERE BESIDE THEM, JOINING IN.I CAN'T SAY THAT ABOUT ANY CD I HAVE HEARD...THIS ONE IS A GEM. LOVE, MRS. BOJANGLES

Gentle mix of old gospel/country and new
Reminiscent of the 70's sound of Seals and Crofts with the melodic blend of guitar and mandolin.
Gentle mix of old gospel/country and new . "Patrick" speaks volumes about the disposable generation of children today.
The harmony between Carl and Cary is a soothing alternative in stark contrast to today's high energy "praise and worship" songs.
"Yesterday Was Christmas" brings to mind Gordon Lightfoot and his story-telling gifts.
"It Is Well With My Soul" evokes the sadness and strength of the author who gives credit to the Author of Life.
Looking forward to the next release.

Great harmony with straightfoward acoustic instrumentals
Great harmony with straightfoward acoustic instrumentals ... kind of like 'Simon and Garfunkel come to Jesus'

the kind of blinkard, philistine, pig-ignorance I've come to expect.
You can see how these two have progressed from the TAKE ME DOWN TO THE RIVER days into people who can with great artistry interpret ballads, hymns, and story songs with real heart and soul. NO REGRETS speaks of a journey and pilgrimage in faith. I am glad for the stroll!

...not caring a tinker's cuss for the struggling young artists...
After dark, plug in your portable out on the front porch. Set it in a rocking chair and put on Song Evangel. Then go back inside and leave the door open...the windows, too. Turn out the lights and put a match to a couple of candles. Let the sound of the crickets blend with the music as they waft in on the aroma of the cool night air. Close your eyes and enjoy. But open them every once in a while to look around for angels. Some of them might decide to come join you.

True Talent Endures
I love the music of these guys as I have for over 20 years. A real gift for arranging as well as musicianship and vocals that are always pure and never pretentious. Hearing them perform makes the listener want to sing praise. It's pure worship in the clever disguise of great music.
