Album Notes
I am a saloon singer. You can find us on Friday night "in the corner, under the TV, behind the pool table, next to the juke box". Countless failed attempts to document the saloon singer in the tumult of his natural environment spawned the idea to recreate it in a state-of-the-art recording studio. Remove the hockey game, cash resisters, the breaking glass, and the people who applaud breaking glass. Call a few good friends; throw in some excellent wine, a case of Beck's Dark, a cheesecake, toss in a few cannoli's and an extremely pregnant couple from Brooklyn and we were able to create

Great music, songs you've never heard, at least not like this
"Live at the City Lights Saloon" captures a brilliant guitarist/vocalist at the top of his craft. If you're looking for songs you may not have heard before, you'll find them here. Guadagno's haunting vocal on "Three Verses of Dixie" makes it as compelling a piece as you'll find anywhere, and Guadagno's driving acoustic guitar on Pierce Pettis' "Chase the Buffalo" is sure to make this a favorite. His performances of "Bo James" and "Through Your Hands" are among the most heartfelt I've heard in years. Guadagno also covers some more well-known tunes in his own style, really making them his own. "All Along the Watchtower" is a superb showcase of acoustic guitar virtuosity, and the classic folk-rock "Bus Stop" is stunningily simple, combining a subtle acoustic guitar and perfect vocal. The cd has some novelty as well. "ESPN," "You Don't Have to Get Drunk" and "Six Words" can't help but make you laugh. This is one of the finest new cds out there - what Guadagno has captured "Live at the City Lights Saloon" is magical. Don't let this one get away.

Absolutely brilliant
I saw Pat at the Light of Day show in New Jersey in November and thought he was brilliant. When I returned home to France I immediately bought the CD through CD Baby (excellent service). Pat made up for Bruce Springsteen not attending the LOD show, although I did see him twice in Philladelphia that same week. For me 'All I Needed Was You' is my favourite track - it is brilliant. Thanks Pat and LOD for introducing me to some great Jersey Shore artists.

Live at the City Lights Saloon
Heard portions of "Don't Let Us Get Sick" during Showtime's Californcation and immediately headed for the web site to find out who this was. What a great find. Thanks to Pat for some awesome versions of all these songs. Thanks to Showtime because I'm sure I'd never have heard this if not for them.

We love It! Great CD for our road trips!!
We love this CD! We saw the artist at a happy hour in North Conway and thought he was great-bought the CD-put in our jeep CD player-and what a blast!! Now we listen to it all the time. He sounds like an entire band. We love the whole CD, but his renditions of Ol'55, When Rita Leaves(better than the original), and All I Needed Was You are the best. The man can sing! The fun songs are a blast, the serious songs are sung with such feeling. We recommend this CD to all our friends. Can't wait for the next one-and I like saloons!

Fantastic interpretation of songs, Pat just OWNS them!
Pat Guadagno does a remarkable interpretation of these tracks. To listen to them, it is hard to believe he did not write them, he simply grabs each one and OWNS it. That talent coupled with a percussive guitar style that takes you at the first chord and does not let you go makes this a rare gem. If Guadagno's stated goal was to "capture the saloon singer in his own element", he does that and then some!

Two River Times

"Live at the City Lights Saloon is pure magic...."
one of the best releases of the year by one of my favorite artists. Of course I am speaking of Pat Guadagno’s Live at the City Lights Saloon, a monster live recording I have always admired the unique vocal and guitar playing talents of Pat Guadagno .Pat is the last of a dying breed, a real live, honest to goodness dyed in the wool saloon singer. And his debut release Live at The City Lights Saloon is one of the finest live recordings released in this or any other year for that matter.

From first song to last this recording is chockfull of musical gems by what I consider to be this areas finest interpreter of songs. And while each and every song is a must listen, some of my favs include Pat’s take on “I Take My Chances”, “Bus Stop” “Six Words”, “When Rita Leaves”, “Political Science” “Because” “Chase the Buffalo” “All Along the Watchtower” and “Don’t Let US Get Sick”.
Recorded Live at City Lights Studios in the wilds of Farmingdale NJ, before an intimate gathering of friends and fans , Live at the City Lights Saloon is pure magic and the exact representation of what it is like to be at a live performance by Pat Guadagno. And it just doesn’t get any better than that
Pat Guadagno has gifted us with heartfelt songs of love, faith, hope, and devotion. And while I can not twist your arm and make you buy them I hope that after reading this column you will give this a good hard listen
