Album Notes
Earthrise is a collection of both original pieces as well as arrangements of other songs played in what I call a spontaneous composition form. In just picking up the guitar and playing what you feel at the time, following no format, or charts... a new arrangement takes place. This spontaneous compositional form is nothing new, it is the more or less the way all music begins... out of something previously there. Some of the selections are solo, that is with no added tracks, some are multi track with added guitar and/or rhythm.
As a guitarist and songwriter, I have played the guitar for most of my life. For the first fifteen years or so I used a pick, having almost no awareness of playing in any other way. Then, a couple of years after my family moved to a large metropolitan area, I discovered the “Classic or Finger Style” of playing. By this time I was already an established guitarist, playing with various groups, doing solo performances, doing recording sessions with other artists, in the music business full time. Then, I decided to stop using a pick altogether and play only with my fingers. At first this created a problem with my employment in a lot of the music work I did at the time, but this soon changed. Today I play only with the fingers, in the “Classical Style”, on all types of guitars whether acoustic or electric, as many others have chosen to do also.
Thank you for checking things out, I hope you find something you enjoy.
