Album Notes
I first heard about Andrés Carrasco through friends. Rumor had it he was the kind of guitar player that could make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end. I wanted to find out for myself, so I invited him over to the house.

When we finally got together I was immediately surprised by the beautiful sounds he could coax from his nylon string guitar. I had played electric rock and jazz all my life, so this classical sound was new to me. I picked up my old dusty acoustic guitar and we started jamming on Aranjuez just by ear, and I realized this was something very special - Guitar Romantica was born. The sound of that nylon string guitar blending with my steel string got me so excited about acoustic guitar music that I drove up to Hollywood the next weekend and bought a new Carvin acoustic electric guitar.

I am so fortunate to have met Andrés. His outgoing personality, quick wit, and gigantic heart make him my perfect musical companion. He has taught me so much, especially about playing rhythm and really feeling the music. I shall be forever grateful. - Kent Lindsay

It only took three notes for me to realize that my chance meeting with Kent was more than just "chemistry". Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be lucky enough to run into Kent, a superbly clean player, who can read proficiently, and play from the heart with a style all his own. His ability to pick up "Latin" rhythms coupled with his rock and jazz roots have generated a monster guitarist.

More importantly though, is not only his talent, but who he is as a person - kind, giving, patient, and smart. I know the next passage on our journey is going to be rewarding, as we continue to create more new music that we can call our own. Thank you Kent. There is no way I could have finished this project without you! - Andrés Carrasco

'Beyond Borders' merges the best of guitar music genres
The first thing I noticed about the songs on this CD was the sounds of the guitars themselves; most guitar duos play in a specific style, with a specific type of guitar, and it is hard to tell which player is playing at any given time. But on this CD, the Beyond Borders theme hits home immediately, as one hears the mellow sound of the Spanish guitar playing along with the slightly brighter American sound of the acoustic-electric guitar. In addition, each musician brings along his own bag of tricks and styles from his side of the border, resulting in a musical experience that is fun, romantic, humorous, and energetic all at the same time.

The songs cross the lines between traditional South American styles, American jazz, beautiful ballads, and some well-known standards. The last track on the CD is a lullaby that Andres' father apparently used to play for him when he was a child, and is my favorite of the bunch; about as perfect a tune as a tune can get. I would recommend this first effort by Guitar Romantica to anyone of any age!

Listening to this CD makes me feel good.
I play it for my kindergartners, and they appredicate it as much as I do. The music is refined, complex, optimistic. There is quality there.

A captivating masterpiece and perfect blend of styles!
If you love beautiful guitar music, you'll love this CD! There is not a weak song or moment in the superb guitar playing of these artists! Europa is so fine it makes Santana's version sound like a copy. You won't find a more tasty and cooler version of Blue Bossa anywhere, and if El Diablo and Tico Taco don't make you want to dance, you may not be human or even alive! The only stuff that comes close is maybe Earl Klugh's collaboration with George Benson, or some of Ottmar Liebert's albums. But this is in a class by itself, do yourself a favor and buy it, it's not only beyond's beyond great!

Mesmerizing !! Purely magical. An incredible blend of sounds and styles.

I can only say one thing about there music, FANTASTIC !
Although I am not a fan of this style of music I found
myself pulled into it with great ease and enjoyment. What
is obviously a very complex and involved style of music these guy's make seem simple and inviting. I have listened
to there CD over and over again and just can't get enough
of it. Do yourself a favor and try these guy's out, really
great stuff !
