ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album might sound a little familiar. That\'s right. These are the songs from Diamonds To Dust, Gurf\'s critically acclaimed album from 2007. But this is an instrumental album. Gurf removed the vocals and replaced them with sounds - samples of monks chanting, odd swirly ambiences, slide guitar, weird keyboards, etc. The interesting and evocative textures create a unique aural soundscape. Very cinematic. Open your mind and let this music fill some space.

In the heyday of reggae, no self-respecting Jamaican artist would put out a single without a "version," the same track with the vocals removed and spacey textural effects added in the remix. Gurf's "version" takes a great album to a whole new sonic plane. The utter simplicity of the backing tracks is enhanced with haunting melody lines that are subtle variations on the mood of the original vocals. I highly recommend this disc, my favorite for long highway drives or late-night meditation.
