Many Hiding Places

Album Notes
There is little in Gus Garcia's music that betrays his Brazilian roots. Instead, his unmistakable style is informed by a lifelong fascination with UK artists and culture and is made unique by his life experiences.

Inspired by his love of 60s and 70s rock, as well as the Britpop scene of the 90s, Gus began writing and playing music at the age of 15. His first experience of performing live was with a tribute band in Brazil. At the same time he was steadily honing his own songwriting abilities, leading to the EP “If Someone Is Watching, Don't Cross The Line”, released in Brazil in 2005.

It soon became clear that Brazil couldn’t offer Gus the opportunities he was looking for and in 2007 he moved to London. As a lifelong Anglophile who sings only in English, it seemed to make perfect sense. Inspired by his new environment, Gus quickly wrote over forty new songs.

His first release in the UK was the acclaimed EP “ Many Hiding Places” in 2009. The EP's addictive melodies, hypnotic vocals, intricate percussive elements and mysterious, exotic undertone won excellent reviews and all three songs have been featured on several internet radio stations, including Xstream East (DJ Peter Coulston).

Gus put together a full band to promote the EP, performing at some of London's finest venues, such as the Bull and Gate. The band also recorded a video for “Menace”, the closing track of “Many Hiding Places”.

In mid 2010, Gus headed to Urchin Studios in East London to start recording his new EP “Medieval”, which will finally see the light of day in May 2011.

While recording “Medieval”, Gus has found time to keep performing solo acoustic sets at venues such as Proud Camden, The Road Trip Bar and 12 Bar Club to name a few.

The new EP is being mastered at this very moment, and Gus is already busy planning a major promotional campaign as well as looking for new band mates. In the mean time, Gus is still performing as a solo act all over London – a format he enjoys very much.

If you have the chance, don't miss the opportunity to check out his hypnotic acoustic set. I guarantee you'll be looking forward to what he is up to next.

Treasure found!
It is definitely the best I've heard so far in 2009. I enjoyed all songs, but specially "Before The Winter". This one moves me all the time and I often find myself singing it or humming its beautiful melody.
Gus Garcia is a true artist with lots of potential, that deserves our attention. I'm pretty sure we'll hear a lot about this talented guy in the near future. Hopefully a second cd will follow soon.

Hiding Notes
It´s the best surprise of 2009 so far. Melodies that stays on your head, and sunddenly you find yourself singing alone. I hope to see him soon performing here in Brazil. Big hug from an unconditional fan.

5 stars are not enough
For the CD and definitely for the Artist i´d give more than five stars, a 100 minimum. I´m not exaggerating neither blarneying, I´m just saying my true opinion as an heavy/classic rock listener, who discovered the beauty and "catchy melodies" in Gus Garcia´s songs. I also hope to see him performing here in Brazil, in London and all over the world! Why not say! Panda hug from the Nº1 fan! ^_^
