ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

(This music is a conversation amongst six artists playing a total of thirteen distinct instruments. The structures are based in the music I love and to which I have dedicated myself, flamenco. The instrumentation and mood, however, are also heavily influenced by jazz and world music such as Persian percussion. I have listened to jazz for years and discovered Persian music while working on this project. Despite many differences, these traditions can coexist because they originate from fundamental human experience. Each style can evoke a purity that is culturally specific, yet universal.

The album is a search for sounds that combine flamenco’s forms, rhythms, and vocal melodies with different melodic and percussive instruments. The sound of the flamenco guitar is the common thread that unifies each piece.

While I am proud of the recording, I am even more excited by the sounds yet to come as this approach continues to grow and evolve. Thank you for taking the time to listen.)
